Jamal Jamil Jwailes, 29
Khalil Mustafa al-Bayrouti, 31
Yousef Yesterday [4 January], around three in the afternoon, I was standing with my brother Jamal next to our wagon in the center of Ramallah, near the money changer a-Rian. We were selling coffee and tea. Two young men stopped next to the wagon and one of them asked for coffee. They said that special Israeli forces were in the vegetable market in al-Minara Square, in the city center, about 200 meters from where we were. Just then, I heard intense gunfire. I left my brother and walked toward the square to see what was happening. When I got there, I saw three or four Palestinian men who had taken a position next to the square and were firing at the Israeli special forces, who were in civilian clothes, from about a distance of 200 meters away. Two military helicopters were overhead.
The gunfire was intense, people began to flee, and I felt it was dangerous there. I ran back to the wagon, a distance of about fifty meters. When I got to the wagon, I saw some guys crouched beside it. My brother was lying on the ground. He had been wounded in the right hand. Blood was gushing out, staining his clothes. The other guys shouted to call for an ambulance. The ambulance arrived about ten minutes later. I put my brother in it and we drove to Sheikh Zayed Hospital . My brother was taken to the trauma ward for treatment.
About fifteen minutes later, when I knew that Jamal was all right, I went back to the wagon to move it. To get to it, I walked along a road that doesn't actually get to al-Minara Square. Rather, I went via Clock Square . I moved the wagon to the car parking lot nearby and then headed back to the hospital. When I reached the place where the wagon had been, opposite the money changer a-Rian, I saw that some guys had gathered there outside the range of fire from the square. Suddenly, a low-flying helicopter fired a volley of bullets at the area. It sounded like an air gun. One of the guys was hit and fell to the ground. The group of guys screamed. They picked up the wounded guy and rushed him to a nearby ambulance. The fellow who had been hit was wearing a black jacket, a blue shirt, and black pants. I heard the guys say that he was from Hebron . I went to the stairwell and hid there for about ten minutes.
When things quieted down a bit and the helicopter left, I went to the hospital. I saw the young men who had been near the fellow who had been hit by the helicopter fire. They said that the fellow - Muhammad 'Abd al-Qader 'Adur, who was thirty-two - had died.
That night, following coordination with the Israelis, my brother was transferred to al-Moqassad Hospital , in East Jerusalem . He needed an orthopedist because bones in his right shoulder had been broken.
Nader Zakria Muhammad Abu Rabah, 29, is a vender at the market and a resident of al-Birah, Ramallah District. His testimony was given to Iyad Hadad, at the scene of the incident, on 5 January 2007. 21 apr 2012, 08:45 , Respect -

Palestinian sources reported on Monday that two residents were killed on Saturday evening near the border fence separating between the Gaza Strip and Israel. Israeli sources claimed that the two were crawling towards the fence.
An Israeli military source reported that soldiers opened fire at two armed Palestinians crawling towards the border fence. Bullets fired by the soldiers apparently hit explosives crates the two were carrying, setting their explosives off.
The Salah Ed Deen brigades, the armed wing of the Popular Resistance Committees identified the two as Mousa Mohammad Qarmout, 22, and Kamal Khader, 19.

Soldiers who in 2002 killed 4 Palestinians, including 3 children, receive 3 months probation
An Israeli military court sentenced two soldiers who in 2002 fired tanks shells at civilians in Jenin, in the northern part of the West Bank, killing three children and one resident, to three months probation and a censure after the pleaded guilty to “negligence”.
Soldiers fired tank shells at civilians in Jenin as the army was imposing curfew over the city during “Operation Defensive Shield” in 2002. A military probe into the incident revealed that the force was not subjected to any danger.
A company commander who also pled guilty to negligence was sentenced to probation and was demoted to a second lieutenant, Israeli online daily Haaretz reported.
Haaretz added that the prosecution agreed to the deal “due to difficulties in proving the connection between the officers' negligence and the deaths of the Palestinians”.
The deadly attack took place when the Israeli army stormed Jenin during the so-called “defensive shield” military offensive in the West Bank. A brigade commander operating in the city ordered the armored battalion under his command to fire tank shells at civilians who were gathering in a street.
The officer said that the residents gathered in the street in spite of the imposed curfew in Jenin.
According to the prosecution, the battalion commander ordered the troops to fire the shells at a “hazard barrier” which means a short distance away from the civilians. But the commander, according to the report, failed to pass on the remainder of the instructions.
When the tank shells were fired, one 53-year old man and three children were killed and five more civilians were injured. The casualties were
Hilal Mustafa Shatta, 53,
Sojoud Ahmad, 6,
Ahmad Yousef, 5, and his brother
Jamil Yousef, 13.
Five other civilians, including three children aged 7 – 12, were injured.
Haaretz also reported that the brigade commander faced “disciplinary” proceedings regarding the civilian deaths and was cleared of any wrongdoing.
The identities of the soldiers involved in the incident remained unknown as the court issued a gag order despite the fact that the name of the brigade commander appeared in the press.
The gag order was enforced as the court was citing concerns that the families or human right groups might attempt to try them abroad.

Mahmoud: of Nablus, killed by IDF gunfire to his head while throwing stones during an incursion.
10-Year-Old Palestinian School Girl Abir Amarin Dies Two Days After Being Shot by Israeli Occupation Terrorist Soldiers
Abir was carrying a book, a notebook and some pens in her 10 year old hands.
She has yet to participate in a demonstration or a march protesting occupation, but that did not stop Israeli soldiers from hitting her.
Abir Aramin was only injured at first by the gas bomb that was shot at the back of her head.
She had just stepped out of the Anata School for Girls after taking a test when the gas canister hit her and she was knocked to the ground.
Israeli occupation terroforces in Jerusalem had penetrated the town and began indiscriminately opening fire while detonating gas and sound bombs. Some young people responded with stones.
Abir was the victime of the war game that the Israeli occupation soldiers play daily when they enter the town during school hours and begin shooting near the Anata schools. These children are under 13 years of age, and do not fall prey to the taunting.
Abir's father, Bassam Aramin, said, “I contacted the school administration while I was on my way to work and they told me that my daughter had been knocked to the ground and suffered a head injury. I thought it was just something simple. I contacted her mother and asked if she could go to the school and check it.
But over the telephone I learned that the soldiers had done it and that Abir had been rushed to Makassed Hospital.”
During her first examination we learned that her skull had been fractured and that she had bleeding in her brain. She was initially treated and then we rushed her to Hadassah Hospital, Ein Karim Branch, in order to follow up the situation which was described in both hospitals as serious.
Abir was lying in intensive care and in critical condition.
She underwent brain surgery at 9:00 pm as her health deteriorated.
On Thursday Abir died from the injuries.
Abir's father works for the Jerusalem Society for Democracy and Dialogue and said, “I work in peace organizations and want to appeal to the entire work that what we want is a just and honorable peace. That is what is not wanted by the Israeli leadership.”
Bassam Aramin had some words for the Israeli government.
“The victims among the Palestinian people are no less important than Israeli people. We are all human beings.”
He called on Israeli mothers to not be “tools of the occupation by sending their children to the battlefield without reason.”
Aramin explained, “My daughter is a victim of a systematic oppressive policy and the Israelis must end the occupation and say yes to peace.”
The Director of the Anata School for Girls said Wednesday that she regrets what happened to Abir Aramin.
“What happened yesterday is a deliberate and provocative exercise practiced by border guards since the beginning of exams at the end of the first quarter at students in all of the Anata Secondary schools.”
She added, “The border guards are present daily at the doors of the Anata School for Boys and that for girls, and around Saladin Street where they know the kids must pass to reach buses or to walk home.
They provoke the students by throwing grenades at them.”
The school director appealed for international protection for Palestinian school students.

Court orders compensation for death of Palestinian girl
TEL AVIV, Israel (Ma'an) -- The family of a Palestinian girl killed in 2007 by Israeli soldiers has been awarded 1.6 million NIS ($430,000) in compensation by a Jerusalem court, Israeli news site Ynet reported Sunday.
Abir Aramin, 10, was killed in Anata, East Jerusalem by a rubber bullet fired by an Israeli border guard officer.
Judge Orit Efal-Gabai from the Jerusalem District Court ruled that the Israeli state was responsible for the death of Abir Aramin and must pay her family compensation for burial expenses and "lost years," in addition to compensation based on the nature of her death.
Police at the time had claimed that autopsy results showed Aramin was killed by a stone.
Israeli human rights group B'Tselem helped the family publish a pathologist's report which proved she was hit by a rubber bullet, Ynet said.
In the ruling, the judge stated that there was no dispute that the death of Abir Aramin was due to negligence and that the firing of rubber bullets violated military orders.
Abir Aramin was the daughter of Palestinian peace activist Bassam Aramin, who co-founded the peace group Combatants For Peace.
Figures published by B'Tselem say 141 Palestinian children were killed in 2006 by Israeli forces.
