Gaza citizen wounded by IOF bullets
GAZA, (PIC)-- IOF troops fired at a Palestinian man on Friday while he was collecting scrap in the northern Gaza Strip wounding him in the foot, according to Palestinian medical sources.
Adham Abu Selmeyyah, medical services spokesman, told the PIC that the victim, who is a resident of the northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Lahia, was wounded as a result of the IOF troops opening machinegun fire at Palestinians collecting gravel and scrap metal in the area.
He added that the victim was transferred to the Kamal Odwan hospital and said that his wounds were moderate.
Dozens of Palestinians in the northern Gaza Strip were wounded in similar circumstances in what local people believe to be a deliberate policy by the IOF as most of the casualties suffered wounds to their feet.
Many residents of the Gaza Strip find themselves forced to collect gravel and scrap metal as a means of earning a living.

88th worker shot in northern Gaza 'no go zone'
GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- A Gaza man was shot in the foot Friday morning, medics in the coastal enclave confirmed saying the wound was inflicted by Israeli sniper fire targeting a man collecting gravel particles in the northern border area.
The injured man was evacuated to the Kamal Udwan Hospital in Jabaliya and identified only as 20-year-old "AB." Medics said his injuries were moderate.
Spokesman for the regional ambulance and emergency service Adham Abu Selmieyah said the latest shooting brought to 88 the number of men and boys injured by Israeli fore in the unilaterally declared "no go zone" along the Gaza border, which extends between 300-1,000 meters and consumes some 20 percent of the arable lands in the Strip.
Israeli military officials say the area is used by militants preparing to launch attacks against Israeli targets, and on Thursday shot and killed two men who statements said were carrying weapons. The bodies of the men were evacuated by Israeli military personnel from their location inside the Gaza Strip. A statements aid the two were part of a group of men approaching the Gaza border with the intent of infiltrating a nearby kibbutz.

'Israel shot 91 Gazan scrap collectors'
Since March, Israel's military has reportedly shot at least 91 Palestinians, who had resorted to collecting debris to cope with Tel Aviv's siege of Gaza.
On Saturday and in the latest incident, the troops wounded three Palestinians in the northern and central parts of the Gaza Strip, a Press TV correspondent reported.
The scavengers, including women and children, sell the materials they glean from the former Israeli settlements to contractors and factories in the coastal sliver to cope with Tel Aviv's blockade on the enclave.
The all-out land, aerial and naval restrictions have been depriving 1.5 million Gazans of food, fuel and other necessities since mid-June 2007.
Palestinians would also recycle the remnants of destroyed structures for building repairs.
The Saturday shooting came only a few days after Israeli forces injured five more Gazans, who were similarly trawling for debris.

IOF soldiers open machinegun fire at civilians in Gaza, wound three
GAZA, (PIC)-- Israeli occupation forces (IOF) stationed north and east of Gaza Strip opened machinegun fire at Palestinian citizens at dawn Saturday wounding three of them including two workers who were collecting gravel, medical sources reported.
Adham Abu Salmiya, the coordinator of medical services in the Strip, told the PIC reporter that a 22-year-old youth was hit with a bullet in his right foot after the IOF soldiers opened machinegun fire at citizens' homes east of Deir Al-Balah, in central Gaza, at dawn Saturday.
Resistance elements affiliated with the Nasser Salahuddin Brigades, the armed wing of the popular resistance committees, had confronted an IOF special unit in the same area overnight.
Meanwhile, Abu Salmiya said that two workers were injured in the vicinity of Beit Hanun (Erez) crossing on Saturday morning at the hands of the IOF troops.
He told the PIC that both were hospitalized with moderate wounds.
IOF gunfire wounded 90 Palestinian workers since March 2010 in a clear indication of systematic targeting of those workers.

IDF bombs Gaza tunnel, weapons cache
Army says strike a response to rockets, mortar shells; no injuries reported in Strip.
The Israel Air Force attacked a weapons cache and a smuggling tunnel in the southern Gaza Strip on Tuesday night. The Israel Defense Forces Spokesperson's Office said all targets were hit. There were no reports of injuries in the strike.
The army explained that the attack was a response to the firing of rockets and mortar shells into Israel in the past two weeks, saying it viewed Hamas as solely responsible for the situation in Gaza.
On Monday, the Color Red alert systems detected a rocket fired at the Ashkelon Coast Regional Council. There were no reports of injuries or damage. Residents were ordered to enter fortified rooms and reported of a faint explosion sound.
About three weeks ago, Palestinian gunmen fired a Grad rocket at the Ofakim area, as well as two Qassam rockets and seven mortar shells at Gaza vicinity communities all in one day. Some of the mortars contained phosphorus. The IDF bombed smuggling tunnels in response, injuring six Palestinians.
After a second strike, Hamas members fled most of the organization's headquarters and bases in the Strip for fear of another Israeli attack.

1 injured in overnight airstrike on southern Gaza
GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Israeli warplanes carried out two airstrikes on the southern Gaza Strip early Wednesday morning.
The first targeted a poultry farm in Khan Younis, injuring a young Palestinian man and damaging the farm, a Ma'an correspondent said.
Warplanes targeted a tunnel in Rafah along the Egypt-Gaza border about 15 minutes later, the correspondent said. The tunnel was destroyed and others were damaged. There were no reports of injuries in that attack.
The armed wing of Islamic Jihad said it fired mortar shells at Israeli armored vehicles and soldiers in central Gaza. The Al-Quds Brigades said its attack targeted the Wad As-Salqa area.
The Israeli army said in a statement that its air force, in response to the firing of rockets, "struck a weapons manufacturing site and a smuggling tunnel in the southern Gaza Strip. Direct hits were identified."
The military added: "The IDF holds the Hamas terrorist organization solely responsible for maintaining the calm in the Gaza Strip and for any terrorist activity emanating from it. The IDF will also continue to respond harshly to any attempt to use terror against the State of Israel."

Israel launches airstrikes on Gaza
Israeli fighter jets, file photo
The Israeli Air Force has attacked the southern Gaza Strip, enlisting the services of military aircraft and unmanned spy planes, a report says.
The warplanes carried out airstrikes near the city of Khan Younis in the south, bombarding a chicken farm on Wednesday, a Press TV correspondent reported. The aircraft, he said, continue to fly over the city.
Israeli planes also attacked the city of Rafah, also in the south, targeting the tunnels beneath Gaza's border with Egypt.
There have so far been no reports of human or material losses from the attacks. The Israeli military has not confirmed the airstrikes.
The tunnels are used to bring in direly-needed supplies as Tel Aviv keeps up its mid 2007-present siege of the coastal sliver, depriving 1.5-million Gazans of food, fuel and other necessities.
Tel Aviv has repeatedly pounded Gaza since it took the strip under all-out onslaughts in the Operation Cast Lead at the turn of 2009, killing more than 1,400 Palestinians and inflicting a damage of above $1.6 billion on the enclave's economy.

Israeli shelling injures 3 Palestinians
At least attack east of the besieged Gaza Strip, medical sources say.
The incident occurred on Wednesday near the Karni crossing, linking the Gaza Strip and Israel.
All those injured were gravel collectors, a Press TV correspondent reported.
An Israeli military statement later claimed that its forces opened fire on Palestinians who were suspected of preparing to fire a rocket at Israeli forces.
Most Palestinians in the area are farmers who have to risk their lives to go to their farms near the border as Israeli soldiers frequently open fire on them, accusing them of trying to approach the "security fence."
The Karni crossing attack came shortly after the Israeli warplanes pounded several targets located in southern Gaza.
One person was injured and a number of Palestinian buildings in Khan Yunis and Rafah crossing were badly damaged as a result of the Israeli airstrike.
Gaza has been under a crippling Israeli siege since 2007, when Hamas -- the democratically-elected ruler of Gaza -- took control of the coastal sliver.

Israel launches air strikes and ground attack on the Gaza Strip
EXCLUSIVE PICTURES
As the Western world continues to insist that the Palestinians give up resistance to Israel's occupation and ongoing belligerence, the Zionist state has again attacked the Gaza Strip. It is almost two years since Israel's vicious invasion of Gaza killed more than 1,400 people.
Just hours after Israeli aircraft launched two strikes in southern Gaza early on Wednesday morning (8 December), Israeli armour opened fire on a residential neighbourhood in the east of Gaza City. A Palestinian family had a narrow escape when their home was hit by two artillery shells, causing structural damage and partially destroying their belongings.
Witnesses expressed their surprise that their neighbourhood was a target for the Israeli forces. Three men were injured in a separate attack nearby.
In southern Gaza, F-16 aircraft are reported to have fired missiles into the densely-populated city of Khan Younis. The tunnels to Egypt, regarded by many independent observers as the "lifeline" of the Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip, were also targeted.

Three Palestinians injured in IOF artillery shelling
GAZA, (PIC)-- Three Palestinian young men were wounded on Wednesday afternoon after the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) stationed on the borders of the Gaza Strip fired an artillery shell at them east of Gaza city.
Adham Abu Salmiye, the media coordinator of medical services in the Strip, told the PIC that the three were hospitalized, describing their injuries as "moderate".
Meanwhile, the agriculture ministry denounced the savage IOF raid that targeted a poultry farm in Khan Younis, south of the Strip, earlier on Wednesday.
It said in a statement that the IOF crimes in Khan Younis and against a warehouse for crops in Nablus are the latest series of the destruction streak against the agricultural sector in Palestine.
The ministry said that the agricultural sector in Palestine was experiencing its worst moments because of the IOF practices on the one hand and the scarcity of rain on the other.
It noted that the IOF troops were escalating attacks on fishermen along the Gaza coasts and against farmers along the eastern and northern land borders of the Strip.
For his part, Dr. Sami Abu Zuhri, a Hamas spokesman in Gaza, belittled the Israeli announcement of expanding the goods allowed for exports from the Strip as a propaganda stunt.
He said that Israel was trying to deceive the world into believing that it was lifting the siege on Gaza, adding that Israel was only allowing two kinds of goods out of the Strip while continuing to ban entry of basic and raw materials necessary for the construction and industrial sectors in the Strip.

Israeli use of deadly tear gas kills 1
Israeli forces fire tear gas at Palestinian protesters during clashes in the occupied East al-Quds (Jerusalem) on December 3, 2010.
Israeli troops have claimed the life of one Palestinian, injuring many others, using banned and deadly tear gas canisters, says an Israeli rights group.
"Soldiers firing extended range tear gas canisters have killed one unarmed Palestinian protester and have injured many others, one of them critically," Sarit Michaeli, the communications director for B'tselem, the Israeli Information Center for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories said on Thursday, Reuters reported.
"Extended range tear gas canisters are much more powerful than regular aluminum tear gas canisters; we know that the Israeli security fire them routinely at people and when these extended range canisters hit protesters; they are extremely dangerous," the source said.
The canisters, which are fitted with a strong propellant jet, are almost impossible to detect in flight, multiplying their deadly effect.
Michaeli noted that the canisters had been used "in recent weeks at protesters" in the occupied West bank.
An Israeli army spokesman confirmed the application of the means of suppression.
The rights body said it had documented three incidents in the past month, when demonstrators in the West Bank village of Nabi Salah had been targeted with the grenades.
Earlier in the year, a report by the Palestinian Ma'an news agency indicated that expired and oxidized tear gas canisters had been found on the ground after clashes between Israeli forces and protesting Palestinians in the Silwan neighborhood of the occupied East al-Quds (Jerusalem) that left two Palestinians dead.
Following the incident, residents reported a surge in symptoms of fatigue, high fever, vomiting and shortness of breath while medical service personnel stated that those injured during the incident had displayed signs of poisoning.
A 14-month-old infant had also died due to inhalation of tear gas fired by Israeli forces.

Report: Army using banned tear gas again
TEL AVIV, Israel (Ma'an) -- The Israeli armed forces have recently resumed the use of prohibited tear gas canisters to disperse demonstrations in the West Bank, an Israeli newspaper reported Thursday.
These tear gas grenades, which are in effect 40 mm rounds with a range of 250 meters, were responsible for numerous serious injuries and at least one death, Haaretz reported.
The resumption of using the types of ammunition comes after use of the extended-range tear gas canister was banned by the army and stocks were removed from weapons depots, according to the report.
