Report: Israel to build wall on Lebanon frontier
TEL AVIV, Israel (Ma’an) -- Israeli military officials plan to build a new wall on the country's northern ceasefire line with Lebanon, Israeli media reported on Monday.
An official in Israel's northern command told Hebrew daily Yedioth Ahronoth that the 5-meter high and 1-kilometer long wall will be equipped with alarms and separate Israeli kibbutz al-Matala and Lebanese village Kafr Kala which lie near to each other.
The wall, the first of its kind along the frontier with Lebanon, will be planned in the coming days and building will start in a few weeks, the newspaper said.
Israel's army has requested the UN peacekeeping force stationed in the ceasefire zone coordinate with Lebanon in order to prevent clashes.
The border between Israel and Lebanon is disputed by the two sides and the UN-drawn "Blue Line" covers just part of the stretch, established in 2000 to determine whether Israel had withdrawn from Lebanon after its 1982 invasion.

'Israel must respect Lebanon territories'
United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon (L ) shakes hands with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati during their meeting in Beirut on January 13, 2012.
Secretary General of the United Nations has called on Israel to cease violating Lebanese sovereignty and UN Security Council (UNSC) Resolution 1701.
In an interview with the Lebanese newspaper An-Nahar prior to his arrival in Beirut on Friday, Ban Ki-moon also urged Lebanon to take necessary measures to protect itself against terrorism.
The issue of terrorism in Lebanon has been receiving increased attention since last month when Lebanese Defense Minister Fayez Ghosn said al-Qaida militants were entering the country through eastern border towns.
During a meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati later on the same day, Ban said that he would discuss the matter of Israeli violations with Israeli officials during his upcoming visit to Israel.
“Lebanon has always respected its obligations even in the toughest times including those related to the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, but only that does not safeguard stability and peace; the international community should face Israel and force it to commit to its resolutions,” Mikati's press office quoted Ban Ki-moon as saying.
Resolution 1701 reiterates the UNSC's strong support for the territorial integrity, sovereignty and political independence of Lebanon within its internationally recognized borders.
Israel violates Lebanon's airspace on an almost daily basis, claiming the flights serve surveillance purposes.
During his three-day visit, Ban will meet Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri and other Lebanese officials. He is also expected to visit the headquarters of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) in the south of the country.

Report: UN confirms Israeli fence near Lebanese village
BEIRUT (Ma'an) -- A UN peacekeeping official said Israeli forces have erected a barbed wire fence along its frontier with Lebanon, Lebanese media reported on Thursday.
The barrier lies in a disputed area near Lebanese village Adaisseh, Lebanon's The Daily Star reported.
"On the night of Feb. 7-8 in the general area of Adaysseh Israeli troops laid concertina wire to mark the mine field after prior notification to UNIFIL," spokesperson Neeraj Singh said in a statement.
Israeli media reported in early January that the Israeli army plans to build a new 5-meter high and 1-kilometer long wall on the country's northern ceasefire line with Lebanon.
The border between Israel and Lebanon is disputed by the two sides and the UN-drawn "Blue Line" covers just part of the stretch, established in 2000 to determine whether Israel had withdrawn from Lebanon after its 1982 invasion.

PM: Iran responsible for attacks on Israeli embassies
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused Iran and Hezbollah of being behind Monday's double terror attack on the Israeli embassies in India and Georgia.
Earlier, an explosion hit an Israeli diplomatic car near the embassy in New Delhi, injuring the wife of a diplomat stationed with the Defense Ministry's mission in India. In Georgia, an explosive device was found in a Tbilisi embassy employee's car and was neutralized safely.
The coordinated attack is believed to be linked to the fourth anniversary marking the assassination of Hezbollah arch-terrorist Imad Mugniyah.
Netanyahu, discussing the recently foiled attempts to target Israelis in Thailand and to harm the Israeli ambassador in Azerbaijan, told the Likud faction that, "We have been able to thwart such attacks with the cooperation of local authorities. In all cases, Iran and its protégé Hezbollah were behind the attempts.
"Today we witnessed two more terror attacks – in India and Georgia," he continued. "Iran, which is behind these two attacks, is the world's largest terror exporter. The government of Israel and its security services will continue to cooperate with local authorities against Iran-sponsored global terror."
Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman was briefed on the events in Georgia and India immediately. "Israeli diplomats are on the front lines," he said, adding that Israel "knows how to identify those who are responsible for the blast."
The Foreign Ministry has ordered Israeli missions worldwide on high alert. Given the nature of the attacks Israeli diplomats have been advised against travelling in cars in the immediate future.
Meanwhile, IDF Chief of Staff Benny Gantz summoned a speicla General Staff situation assessment. Military Intelligence Chief Major-General Aviv Kochavi, Air Force Commander Maj.-Gen. Ido Nechushtan and Operational Branch Head Maj.-Gen. Ya'akov Ayash will be taking part in the meeting.

Israeli planes violate Lebanese airspace
Four Israeli reconnaissance planes have entered Lebanese airspace in violation of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, Press TV reports.
On Monday, three reconnaissance aircraft entered Lebanon over the southern towns of Naqoura and Rmeish at 8:45 a.m. local time (0645 GMT).
The Israeli planes left the Lebanese aerial territory over the southern towns of Rmeish and Alma al-Shab at about 00:40 a.m. local time on Tuesday (2240 GMT on Monday).
Another Israeli reconnaissance aircraft also entered Lebanese airspace over the southern village of Kfar Kila at 8:05 p.m. local time (1805 GMT) on Monday.
The plane left the Lebanese airspace at 6:50 a.m. local time (0450 GMT) on Tuesday over Alma al-Shab.
Israel violates Lebanon’s airspace on an almost daily basis.
In 2009, Lebanon filed a complaint with the United Nations, presenting over 7,000 documents pertaining to Israeli violation of Lebanese territory.
UN Security Council Resolution 1701 calls on Israel to respect Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Hezbollah denies role in attack on Israel's missions
BEIRUT (Reuters) -- Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah denied Israeli accusations on Thursday that his group was behind bombers who attacked Israeli missions in India and Georgia this week.
"I assure you that Hezbollah has nothing to do with this," he told supporters. Israel accused Iran and Hezbollah of being behind twin bomb attacks on Israeli embassy staff in India and Georgia on Monday, wounding four people. Tehran also denied the Israeli accusations.
Nasrallah was speaking at an event marking the fourth anniversary of the assassination of its military commander Imad Moughniyah. The Shiite group accused Israel of killing Moughniyah in a car bomb in Syria and has vowed revenge.
Israel has denied involvement, and said that it has since foiled several Hezbollah attempts to kidnap Israelis abroad.
Nasrallah reiterated the group's vow to respond to Moughniyah's killing: "As long as there is blood in the veins of any (member) of Hezbollah (then) the day when we will avenge the killing of Imad Moughniyah will come."
Hezbollah fought against Israel in a 34-day war in 2006 after the group captured two Israeli soldiers in a cross-border raid. Some 1,200 people in Lebanon, mostly civilians, were killed and 160 Israelis, mostly soldiers, died.

Sleiman reacts to Israel's war threat
Lebanese President Michel Sleiman
Lebanese President Michel Sleiman has condemned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s war threat, saying that Lebanon’s existence will not be affected by the remarks.
On Wednesday, Netanyahu said that an Israeli strike against Lebanon would be supported by the United States and countries of the Persian Gulf.
Speaking at a press conference during his visit to Switzerland, the Israeli premier said that “would be no Lebanon in the new world map.”
Sleiman responded by recalling the Israeli defeat in the 2006 military action it launched against Lebanon despite Tel Aviv’s military upper hand.
“Lebanon is the only country to have defeated Israel militarily,” he stated, and that Israel is still recovering from the losses it suffered in the 33-day war.
The Lebanese president highlighted Lebanon’s old history and dismissed divisions among the Lebanese nation despite religious and factional diversities.
“Lebanon is thousands of years old and has a place in history and talk like this has no effect on it,” he said.
Sleiman said Lebanon’s diversity came in absolute contrast to “Israel’s racist system, which has no place in the world,” and that the world has started to “shift towards pluralism, which is the basis of the Lebanese system.”
“Lebanon is one of the founders of the United Nations and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Netanyahu’s statements reflect his contempt for humans,” he stressed.
