Israeli tank kills, wounds Palestinians
Israeli tank fire has reportedly claimed the lives of one Palestinian and inflicted injuries on three others in the north of the Gaza Strip.
The Saturday attack took place in the Gaza City, a Press TV correspondent reported.
Palestinian medics said the victim was killed while searching for construction material. Israel's Army, however, claimed it had received no reports of any shootings in the area.
Palestinians scavenge through the remnants of former Israeli settlements for collectable materials. The measure serves as a coping strategy against a crippling blockade Israel has been imposing on Gaza since mid-June 2007.
Tel Aviv has enforced a so-called buffer zone close to the coastal sliver's border, regularly targeting the rubble collectors who approach the area.
Last year, the shootings killed scores of Palestinians, many of them children.
Highlighting the attacks, an August study by the United Nations showed, "Palestinians have been totally or partially prevented from accessing land located up to 1,000-1,500 meters" from the border.
The Saturday strike was just two days after the Israeli forces shot dead a Palestinian and abducted 11 others in the occupied West Bank.
The Tel Aviv-sanctioned attacks against the Palestinians take place on a regular basis and the ones targeting Gaza have increased over the recent months.

Abu Salmiya later confirmed the report, saying a blast was let off when the collectors disturbed the earth over an explosive device.
Residents of Gaza City reported hearing a blast east of the downtown core.
An Israeli military spokesman said forces in the area were aware of a blast, but added that the military was not involved in the incident.

Laborers, both in their 20s, shot near Hebron after breaking through army position; their condition unclear.
Two Palestinian laborers were injured from IDF fire Sunday morning in the village of Ramadin, located south of Hebron in the West Bank, Palestinian sources reported.
The Israeli army said soldiers opened fire on the Palestinians when they broke through a checkpoint.

Gaza explosion kills Palestinian; IDF: We didn't attack
Medics in Strip say Israeli strike in Gaza City killed 20-year-old man, wounded three others; other reports say explosion caused by dud. Israeli army: Botched rocket attack.
Palestinian medics said Saturday that one person was killed and three others were wounded during an Israeli strike on Gaza City's Zeitun neighborhood.
The injured Palestinians were evacuated to Gaza's Shifa Hospital.
The IDF denied carrying out an attack on the Hamas-ruled territory. Army officials estimated that the blast was the result of a failed attempt by Islamic Jihad terrorists to launch a rocket towards Israel.
According to some reports from Gaza, the four were hit by IDF artillery fire while sifting through rubble for steel and cement to recycle, but other reports said a dud caused the explosion.
Adham Abu Selmeya, spokesman for medical services in Gaza, issued a statement saying the blast was an Israeli tank shell.
Palestinian medical services claimed the IDF struck in response to rocket fire emanating from Gaza.
On Friday a mortar fired from the Strip landed in the western Negev, but no injuries or damage were reported.
On Tuesday a 17-year-old Palestinian was killed from IDF fire in north Gaza. Three other Palestinians were wounded. The IDF said it had fired an artillery shell at terrorists who approached the security fence, apparently to plant explosives.

Report: Jihad post attacked in Gaza
Several hours after Grad rockets hit southern Israeli towns, Palestinian sources say Navy bombed al-Quds Brigades facility west of Khan Younis. IDF says unfamiliar with incident.
Israeli response to Qassam fire? Palestinian sources in the Gaza Strip reported Tuesday that Navy vessels bombed a post of the al-Quds Martyrs' Brigades, the Islamic Jihad's military wing, west of the southern Gaza Strip town of Khan Younis.
The Israel Defense Forces said it was unaware of any attack.
On Monday night, Grad rockets fired from the Hamas-ruled territory landed near the southern Israeli cities of Ofakim and Netivot. A Qassam rocket exploded in an open area in the Eshkol Regional Council.
Four people suffered from shock in Netivot, and damage was caused to a road and a parked car.
It was terrifying," an Ofakim resident said. "We heard a boom like a nuclear bomb. We thought it was thunder; there was smoke and explosions. We're dying of fear that another wave of Grads and Qassams will begin. We have no shelters or secure rooms, and the rocket fell about 10 meters (33 feet) from the houses."
One of the people who attended a wedding in a small hall near the rocket's landing site in the Netivot area said, "There was music, then we suddenly hear a loud blast. Everyone - little children and men ran for cover. People fell over one another. It's a miracle no one was hurt."
Another person who attended the wedding said, "Luckily, the rocket landed after the chuppah, while everyone was already eating at the tables. If it had landed a few meters closer, this could have been a mass casualty event."

Bardawil warns of war on Gaza
GAZA, (PIC)-- Hamas leader Dr. Salah Al-Bardawil said that Israel might exploit the current world's preoccupation with the social protests in a number of Arab countries to launch a new war on Gaza and regain control of the Philadelphia axis.
Bardawil was quoted by Quds Press on Monday as saying that the Palestinian people would not stand idle and would defend itself with all means available.
He said that Israel might take advantage of the conditions in Egypt and re-occupy the borders between Gaza and Egypt. He warned, however, that Israel would pay a heavy material and political price if it went on with such a venture that would gain it nothing in return.
Bardawil welcomed back Fatah leaders to Gaza after forging national reconciliation, but not on the back of Israeli tanks.

Israel simulates war in Golan Heights
Israel has started an extensive military exercise in occupied Golan Heights in the southwestern Syria, simulating warfare as turmoil convulses the region.
The maneuvers started on Wednesday, enlisting thousands of soldiers and hundreds of tanks as well as helicopters and unmanned aircraft, Xinhua reported on Friday.
The two sides are technically at war due to Israel's continued occupation of the mountainous region since 1967, when Tel Aviv captured vast expanses of Arab territories during full-scale military offensives.
The drills came amid countrywide anti-regime protests in Egypt. A key ally of Israel, Cairo has helped Tel Aviv keep the Gaza Strip under a tight siege, which has been depriving the coastal sliver's 1.5-million Palestinians of food, fuel and other necessities since its enforcement in mid-June 2007.
The protests entered their 11th day on Saturday and have been coincidental with anti-government demonstrations in Yemen and Jordan.
The rallies were motivated by Tunisia's recent revolution, which ended the 23-year-long rule of former President Zine El Abidin Ben Ali.

Worker hurt by gunfire in north Gaza
GAZA CITY (Ma’an) -- Israeli forces shot and injured three Palestinians from the Gaza Strip while they were collecting stones, medics said.
Gaza medical official Adham Abu Salmeya said a 22-year-old man was hit by a gunshot to the pelvic cavity, and another 19-year-old was hit in his right foot as they were collecting aggregates east of Gaza City’s Shuja’iyya neighborhood.
They were evacuated to Ash-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City for treatment, Abu Salmeya said.
He added that a 42-year-old man sustained a moderate injury while collecting stone aggregates north of Beit Lahiya in the northern Gaza strip. He was evacuated to Kamal Udwan Hospital.
The shooting brings the toll for injuries in that area to 118 since March 2010, he said.
An Israeli military spokeswoman confirmed reports that one man was injured.
She said soldiers opened fire when a Palestinian approaching the border area ignored warning shots. Soldiers fired at the man's lower body, she said.
The area is considered a combat zone and it is prohibited to enter it, she added.
