Israeli forces injure two Palestinians
As Israel steps up attacks against Palestinians, another shellfire has injured two young Palestinians in the northern Gaza Strip, say Palestinian medical sources.
The attack took place in the northwest of Beit Lahiya on Monday, health services spokesman Adham Abu Selmiya told AFP.
Earlier on Saturday, two more Palestinians were killed during an exchange of fire with Israeli soldiers in central Gaza. One Israeli soldier was wounded in the incident by friendly fire.
Israeli troops have increased their assaults against the besieged people of Gaza over the past week.
Israel imposed a crippling blockade against Gaza in 2007, putting Gazans into a harsh economic situation and adversely affecting the living condition in the coastal sliver.
Tel Aviv also barred the import of building materials that the Palestinians need to reconstruct their homes, offices, and infrastructure devastated during Israel's onslaught against the coastal enclave.
The December 2008-January 2009 war claimed the lives of over 1,400 Palestinians -- most of them women and children.

2 shot by Israeli forces near Gaza border
GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Medics in the Gaza Strip said crews transported two workers injured by Israeli firing north of Beit Lahiya to hospital on Tuesday, both with bullet wounds in their lower legs.
The report said the men were injured while collecting cement particles from buildings in the area destroyed during Operation Cast Lead, Israel's last war on Gaza. UN estimates said some 6,000 homes were destroyed during the onslaught.
Both men were moderately injured, medics said, and were transferred to the Kamal Udwan Hospital for treatment.

Two Palestinians, including child, wounded in IOF shooting
GAZA, (PIC)-- Two Palestinian civilians were wounded in northern Gaza Strip on Wednesday when Israeli occupation forces (IOF) opened fire at them while collecting gravel from destroyed buildings.
Adham Abu Salmiya, the spokesman of the higher committee for ambulance and emergency, told the PIC that a 16-year-old child and a young man were wounded in their feet.
The IOF gunfire injured 102 workers since March 2010 in clear violation of the simplest human rights.
In the meantime, IOF warplanes launched mock raids on Gaza city this afternoon during which they broke the sound barrier.
Citizens feared real raids as the warplanes flew over all areas of the Strip.

Israeli police trash Palestinian store in Jerusalem, break worker's foot
OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)-- Israeli troops raided Wednesday night a Jerusalem shop, trashing the store's contents, and attacking the workers. The owner's son's foot was broken in the incident. Other employees were apprehended.
An altercation broke out between one of the owner's sons Moataz, 18, and an Israeli anti-terrorist policeman called Yamam, after the prior asked a bus carrying Israeli troops to make space at the store's entrance for a truck delivery, Mahmoud Barakat, another of the owner's sons said. The bus driver called on six policemen who in turn broke into the store and hysterically trashed everything inside.
Police during the assault severely beat Ahmed Barakat, who was previously crippled in a traffic accident. His right foot was broken in the police assault despite pleas by those present that he was crippled. Police then proceeded to break the store's cameras and erase the cctv recordings so that there is no visual record of the assault.
More than 40 other policemen from the same force joined the attackers in the store, Mahmoud said.
Passersby appealed to a policeman who was passing by to intervene and stop the assault, but the policeman was kicked out by the other Israeli policemen and told not to interfere as it was not his business.
Moataz and Ahmed Barakat were taken to the Salahuddin Street police station. Family members and lawyers were restricted from accessing them or taking Ahmed to the hospital for treatment. He was carried to be interrogated.
Four witnesses to the attack and the store owners were barred from entry.
Police refused to hear the testimonies from the witnesses, claiming they would have to go to the investigation unit with the individual police members to file a complaint against them.

Palestinians: Navy killed teen
Gaza sources say Navy fired at boat; army spokesman says IDF not familiar with incident.
A 15-year-old Palestinian drowned to death near the Rafah shore after his fishing boat was shot at by Navy forces, Gaza sources reported late Friday.
The IDF's Spokesman's office said it is not familiar with the incident.
News agencies reported that the Palestinian boy was part of a group of teens who went out to sea in boats. According to the Palestinian report, a Navy patrol boat pursued some of the vessels and that the boy was hit by automatic gunfire before his boat flipped and he died.
As noted, responding to a Ynet inquiry the army said it was unfamiliar with any such incident, adding that there were no reports of fire shot by the Navy near the Gaza Strip.
A similar case was reported in September, when medical sources in Gaza said that a 20-year-old fisherman was shot to death by Navy vessels in the northern Strip. At the time, the IDF confirmed the incident, noting that the Navy fired warning shots towards a fishing boat that deviated from the permitted area for sailing.
In recent years, Israel has been limiting fishing sites at Gaza shores in the framework of the blockade imposed on the Strip.

Gaza teen dead after Israel fires on fishing boat
GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- A Palestinian boy died Friday afternoon after Israeli gunboats opened fire on his fishing boat and flipped it over off the coast of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.
Gaza medical services spokesman Adham Abu Salmiya said 15-year-old Ziad Samir Al-Bardawil died after being treated for his injuries at the Abu Yousef An-Najjar Hospital.
Israel's military could not immediately be reached for comment.

S. African politicians 'beaten up by IDF'
Parliament members say 'shoved' by soldiers during anti-Israel protest in village near Bethlehem last week. 'They fired tear gas and stun grenades at us,' one of them claims. Army: Forces used means required to end violent riot.
New diplomatic crisis underway? South African parliament members, who visited the West Bank city of Ramallah last week, say they were attacked by Israeli security forces during a protest in a Palestinian village near Bethlehem.
A delegation of 18 MPs belonging to South African coalition parties arrived in Ramallah last week as guests of the Fatah movement. The visit was coordinated with the Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem, and last Thursday the delegation members entered Israel from Jordan through the Allenby Bridge. They returned to Jordan on Tuesday the same way.
Upon returning to their homeland, the lawmakers told local media that they had been "attacked with tear gas and stun grenades and shoved by the Israeli police in Ramallah," likely referring to Israel Defense Forces soldiers.
'Earaches and mild injuries'
According to South African reports, the incident took place during an anti-Israel rally at a Palestinian village near Bethlehem, which called on the Jewish state to freeze construction in West Bank settlements.
The parliament members said some 20 troops forcibly pushed them. The delegation leader was quoted as saying that apart from the impact of the tear gas, the lawmakers suffered from "earaches and mild injuries".
Foreign Ministry officials estimated that the delegation members may have distorted what happened during the protest with the aim of sparking a row ahead of an upcoming anti-imperialism international youth festival in South Africa, which is slated to focus on Palestine this year and be a center of anti-Israel activity.
Foreign Ministry: We helped delegation
The Israeli officials added that they were puzzled by the fact that a South African political delegation arrived in Ramallah through the Allenby Bridge but "did not hold any meetings in Israel."
The officials stressed that the delegation was "generously" given all the logistic help needed.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Yossi Levy said in response, "At the request of the South African Embassy in Israel, the Foreign Ministry helped the delegation pass quickly and smoothly thorough the Allenby Bridge into Judea and Samaria, for the sake of a respected dialogue between parties and not for the purpose of a conflict and provocation.
"Until the delegation returned to Pretoria we did not receive any complaint on an alleged clash with 'Israeli policemen in Ramallah.'"

Medics: 5 dead in Gaza airstrike
GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Palestinian medical officials said late Saturday that an Israeli attack killed five Palestinians east of Deir Al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip.
The bodies of five young men were received at local hospitals, a medical spokesman said. They were identified as residents of Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza.
The Israeli army said it targeted a group of fighters attempting to launch a homemade projectile toward Israel. None of the Palestinian have factions claimed responsibility.

Israeli tank fire kills five in Gaza
At least five people have been killed in the Gaza Strip by Israeli tank shell fire during an attack on the Palestinian territory.
The attack happened late on Saturday night.
Israel waged a war against the coastal enclave from December 27, 2008 to January 18, 2009.
More than 1,400 Gazans, mostly civilians, were killed in 22 days of devastating air, land, and sea attacks, which also left thousands injured and reduced dozens of buildings to debris.
Israel has been launching incursions into the blockaded territory on a regular basis ever since.

Air Force bombs Gaza terror cell
Five killed in Air Force strike on cell of rocket launchers preparing to fire at Negev communities.
The Air Force bombed a cell of rocket launchers in the central Gaza Strip Saturday night, killing five men preparing to fire rockets at Israel. The IDF says direct hits were identified.
The five men were apparently members of Islamic Jihad and the Popular Resistance Committees.
The strike followed a relatively violent month in the south. Two weeks ago the Air Force bombed three Hamas targets in Gaza, in response to mortar shell fire at Israel.
One Israeli man, the security officer at a community belonging to Eshkol Regional Council, was injured in an attack. No injuries were reported on the Palestinian side.

Israeli forces storm Bethlehem hospital
BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces stormed a hospital near Bethlehem on Sunday and demanded its admissions records for the past 48 hours, staff and witnesses said.
Edmund Shehadeh, director of the Bethlehem Arab Society for Rehabilitation, in Beit Jala, said soldiers surrounded the hospital before storming its ER and demanding the records at gunpoint.
The soldiers wanted records of all admissions since Friday, Shehadeh said. The doctor on duty said commanders threatened to confiscate a computer used for registration when an attendant explained that the admissions office does not routinely record ID numbers of patients who are not admitted.
An Israeli military spokeswoman did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
The medical center is located in Area C according to the Oslo Accords, under full Israeli control.
In Jerusalem, Israeli police said they found the dead body of a US woman who went missing near the city and were investigating if she was the target of an attack. It was not clear if the incidents were related.
