Israeli police taser peaceful protesters
The International Solidarity Movement has filed a complaint against Israeli police, accusing the force of using excessive violence against protesters.
ISM activists say the Israeli police has beaten and shocked peaceful anti-settlement protesters with taser guns in Sheikh Jarrah, East al-Quds (Jerusalem), on Friday and arrested at least six protesters over irrational reasons.
ISM, which is a Palestinian-led movement committed to resisting the Israeli apartheid in Palestine by using nonviolent, direct-action methods and principles, has also accused the Israeli police of allowing Jewish settlers to abuse the detained activists.
"They electrocuted me after they already had me pinned down on the floor. It was very painful and caused a burn," Haaretz qouted a demonstrator as saying.
"I heard one policeman tell another, let him have it a little," another protester said, adding that "He put the thing to the lower part of my leg. It lasted for four or five seconds. I felt I was being electrocuted. All my muscles were jumping. I was left with blisters."
The movement says it has called on the attorney general and the Justice Ministry to investigate the case.
Taser guns can deliver a 50,000-volt shock and can cause serious injury and even death.

Israeli Soldiers Attack West Bank Anti-Wall Protests, Injuring Six Civilians
Ramallah - PNN - Six civilians were injured on Friday and many more were treated for the effects of tear gas inhalation when Israeli troops attacked the weekly anti-wall protests in a number of West Bank communities.
This week, protests were reported in the villages of al-Nabi Salleh, Bil’in, and Nil’in in the central West Bank, as well as al-Ma’ssara in the south.
One man was injured in the leg and two dozen were treated for the effects of tear gas inhalation as troops attacked the weekly protest in the village of al-Nabi Salleh, central West Bank. On Friday morning, villagers and their international and Israeli supporters gathered near land where Israel plans to build a new settlement. Troops attacked villages as soon as they left, and later invaded the village and fired tear gas into people homes.
Later, after the midday prayers, protestors marched again to the settlement construction site, where troops attacked them with tear gas before leaving the village. One man was hit with a tear gas bomb, injuring his hand. Troops later invaded the village and took over homes, including the house of Bassem al-Tamimi, a local activist who has been detained by the Israeli military for the past six months.
Similarly, in Bil’in village, a journalist was injured and many more were treated for tear gas inhalation after troops attacked the protest. Residents of Bil’in have been protesting at the wall for the past six years. International and Israeli supporters joined the villagers after the midday prayers. As soon as people reached the gate of the wall separating villagers from their lands, troops fired tear gas and sound bombs. Khalid Sabarnah, 45, a local journalist, was injured when a tear gas bomb hit him in his hand.
Further protests were held in the nearby village of Nil’in, where the residents and their Israeli and international supporters held the Friday midday prayers near the Israeli wall. The protestors then marched up to the wall, marking the third year of their resistance against it. Troops fired tear gas and live rounds at protesters, causing minor injuries to four. Furthermore, troops fired tear gas at nearby olive orchards, where a number of olive trees caught fire.
Elsewhere on the same day, villagers and their international and Israeli supporters protested against the wall and settlements in al-Ma’sara village in the southern West Bank. Israeli troops stopped villagers from reaching the construction side of the wall, and pushed people back into the village, where the protest ended without any further clashes.

Friday Protests in Al –Masara Relatively Calm
Al-Masara-PNN-Victoria Delacroix- Friday’s weekly protests in the village of Al-Masara were relatively quiet and peaceful. However, even though the local villagers alongside international volunteers and local journalists were calmly and peaceful demonstrating, Israeli soldiers, who numbered more than 25, forcefully shoved and pushed them back as they were marching towards one of the roads in Al-Masara.
The protest was against the expansion of the wall that if completed, will separate the people from their land and their livelihood.
Volunteers from the Holy Land Trust and the Palestinian Summer Encounter, who came from across the globe, including Canada, America, Britain, and France also took part in the protests. Some international protestors had guns pointed at them as soldiers shoved them back repeatedly. The protesters chanted,
“1, 2, 3, 4- Occupation no More, 5, 6, 7, 8- Israel is a fascist state.”
Mahmoud Zawhre, Head of the Popular Committee, who organizes these local protests, told the international volunteers,
“If you’d like to export occupation, here is your example,” he said, pointing at the heavily armed soldiers.
When one protestor asked why the soldiers were afraid of the cameras that were carried by international volunteers, the soldier answered,
“Cameras are good weapons.”
Zawhre along with other local Palestinians, time and time again tried to reason with the soldiers telling them to put away their weapons, underlining that the protestors were not a threat or danger to them or Israel.
Israeli soldiers would not allow any of the protestors to march towards the main road in Al-Masara, citing that it was a safety issue since it was a busy highway. They also used the excuse that the road was a “closed military zone”
Another protestor said, “We want to walk onto our land.”

IOF cracks down on fresh West Bank protests
WEST BANK, (PIC)-- Dozens of Palestinians and pro-Palestinian activists from abroad sustained breathing difficulties on Friday after the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) cracked down on marches across the West Bank.
The marches held weekly in Bil'in and Ni'lin near Ramallah and Al-Ma'sara in Bethlehem province condemned illegal Jewish settlement activity in the occupied West Bank as well as the apartheid barrier in those areas. The activities also came to mark the 44th Naksa Day anniversary, referring to Israel's occupation of East Jerusalem and the West Bank and Gaza Strip in 1967.
Two activists from England among dozens more are reported to have choked on tear gas after the IOF fired a barrage of bullets and gas canisters at marchers in Ni'lin.
In Bil'in, the IOF fired stun grenades, rubber-coated bullets, and gas canisters, and sprayed down protesters with waste water mixed with chemicals, injuring Iranian television correspondent Khalid Sabarina, 42, in the leg and Yousef Isse Abu Rahma, 41. Tens more Palestinians experienced severe vomiting and breathing difficulties in the aftermath, and olive groves along the local separation barrier were left burned.
The IOF also formed a security cordon on Al-Ma'sara after using their hands to assault demonstrators there and block them from reaching private land owned by some of the protesters on the other side of the partition.
Separately, Palestinian youths hurled stones and burned automobile tires as IOF soldiers showered them with gunfire in clashes that broke out in Nabi Saleh village without report of injury.
Also, thousands of Palestinians were forced to offer Friday prayers on the streets of Jerusalem after Israeli police closed Al-Aqsa Mosque to Palestinians under 45 years.
In nearby Silwan, the IOF declared a closed military zone and barred entry to reporters and ambulances after clashes erupted with tens of youths.
Meanwhile, more clashes took place in Jerusalem's Al-Bustan district, but no injuries have been reported.

PalestineYouthVoice: Yes he was running like a wild bull for 20 seconds before that. He was skunked, breathed the toxic gas that was thrown at them, and finally he was sprayed with pepper, before he fainted. You should try their pepper spray, IF you did not faint, you'll be running like a bull for 2 days.

The Palestinian Ministry of Political Prisoner Affairs issued a press release Monday, saying that Mousalan was visiting her father when a group of soldiers stormed the visiting room and arrested her. Rights group: Israel holding boy nearly blinded by IOF
NABLUS, (PIC)-- A human rights group has revealed that the Israel Prison Service is detaining an ill Palestinian boy left nearly blind by Israeli occupation force soldiers.
The development shows that the IPS has not restricted its medical neglect policy to adult prisoners alone.
Ismail Turki Mohammed Okel, 16, from the Old City of Nablus was arrested a year back and sentenced to 20 months in jail.
His mother says that Ismail was forced to leave school and provide for his family by working in a local restaurant after his brother passed away about six years ago.
She said that earlier in 2002, Ismail was caught in a situation while playing ball with friends. After an Israeli soldier stationed nearby claimed to have been attacked by stones, patrol cars began searching for suspects; and they reportedly hit Okel with their vehicle under suspicion that he was behind the attack.
Ismail's mother Umm Rasmi asserted that the soldiers not only ran Oker down but they also assaulted him with the butts of their rifles, putting him in a coma for a week as he stayed at the Rafidia hospital in Nablus.
The crash broke Oker's skull and caused internal bleeding and broken teeth and back pains, and he also lost about 70 percent of his vision, ISHRO researcher Ahmed al-Beitawi said.
Eight years after the incident, Oker was arrested by IOF soldiers on the Israeli Hawara checkpoint and taken to the Megiddo prison.
Still suffering the effects of the incident in 2002, Oker is at stake of losing all of his vision if not provided treatment, Beitawi said.
He said he has submitted several requests to see the prison medic but has not received any response yet.
The youth also suffers from severe pain in his left foot after burns he sustained as a child.
The IPS has banned visits by his mother since the detention period began in June 2010 for alleged security reasons.
International law bans the detention of minors in correctional rehabilitation facilities.

IOF soldiers arrest 72-year-old Hamas MP & lecturer
NABLUS, (PIC)-- Israeli occupation forces (IOF) raided the home of an elderly Hamas MP in the eastern suburb of Nablus city and detained him after blasting their way into his home.
The daughter of MP Ahmed Al-Haj, 72, told the PIC reporter, that the soldiers broke their apartment’s door in a pre dawn raid on Tuesday after encircling the building and took away her father.
She held the IOF responsible for the life of her father, who was previously held by the Israeli occupation authority on ten past occasions the latest in 2008 when he was held in administrative custody, without charge, for 15 months.
The occupation troops also arrested Hamas leader and university lecturer Dr. Mustafa Al-Shinar from his home west of Nablus city at the same time.
Shinar was frequently arrested by the IOF and was released from administrative detention in late 2009.
He wrote on his facebook page last night that reconciliation would not progress as long as political arrests continued in the West Bank. Shinar was kidnapped three times by the PA security, which negatively affected his health condition. He underwent cardiac catheterization.
In the same context, the website of Hebrew daily Yediot Ahronot said that IOF soldiers rounded up 13 Palestinians in the West Bank on Tuesday.

Shepherd held for hours over grazing lands
HEBRON (Ma’an) -- Israeli police detained a Hebron shepherd for hours on Tuesday, saying he had allowed his heard of sheep and goats to illegally enter a "closed military zone."
Bilal Hathaleen, 25 from the village of Um Al-Kheir in the south Hebron hills was grazing his flock not far from home when he was apprehended by police and told that he was in a zone too close to the nearby Karmel settlement.
After his release, the shepherd told Ma'an he had been detained for four hours, and had not been aware that the area was a closed zone.
"Already we have limited access to grazing lands," he said, lamenting prospects for adequately feeding his flock.
"Herders are regularly denied access to lands near Israeli settlements," Human rights activist Hisham Sharabati told Ma'an, saying he had received reports of settler violence and harassment from Karmel residents over the previous two days, that kept locals away from the area.
He said the issue was getting acute, since water wells for animals to drink from are located in the region south of the settlement.
Another Umm Al-Kheir resident, 40-year-old shepherd Yasser Hathaleen, told Ma'an that the day earlier, an Israeli soldier had kicked a she-goat, killing it.
Settlers throw stones repeatedly, he said, trying to usher shepherds out of their pasture land. "We make our living this way," he added, fearing "they want us to go so they can expand the settlement."

Report reveals Israeli police acted in violation of 'Youth Law'
OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)-- A report by the Association for Civil Rights in Israel reveals that Israeli police made breeches not only in international child protection laws, but also in laws that Israel itself has imposed on occupied East Jerusalem.
The report sets out to explain that the Israeli police force's treatment of child "suspects" contravenes the Israeli Youth Law, based on International Conventions for Children's Rights and Israeli basic law. The law provides special protection to minors during arrest, interrogation, and detention.
It gives examples based on actual complaints of minors and their parents on police treatment.
”In practice...the police in East Jerusalem make use of the exceptions established by the Youth Law and turn them into the governing norms,” the report says. ”As a result, minors in East Jerusalem do not enjoy the protection afforded to them by law.”
For example, Israeli law provides that parents must be notified of their child's summoning ”without delay” and that interrogations should be done with the knowledge of the parent.
But in practice, many "suspects" are taken from their homes for "crimes" that in may cases are committed weeks beforehand, without the need to take such drastic measures.
According to police data, 1,200 minors were arrested in East Jerusalem for suspicion of throwing stones.
Separately, Palestinians held in the Israeli Nafha prison in the south have accused the prison of ”escalation” of mistreatment against them.
Most of those prisoners are from the Gaza Strip and are affected by a ”Shalit policy”, and have been banned from visits and other basic rights for the past four years, according to the Palestinian Prisoner Society.
They have complained that what little they do own is subject to damage inflicted during surprise night raids, and they are usually treated with painkillers as a standard medication.
