Israeli Soldiers Shoot at Funeral, Injure 4
JENIN, (WAFA) – Israeli soldiers opened fire on Saturday at a Palestinian funeral in Daher al-Maleh, a village near Jenin in the north of the West Bank, said local sources. Four people were injured.
Eyewitnesses told WAFA that mourners coordinated in advance with the Israeli authorities to bury the deceased in a cemetery in a neighboring village on the Israeli-controlled side of the apartheid wall since Daher al-Maleh does not have a cemetery.
However, Israeli soldiers refused to allow them to cross the gate separating the two villages.
Clashes broke out between the mourners and the Israeli soldiers, who opened fire at the funeral injuring four Palestinians, including the son of the deceased. They were reported in light condition.

PRC leader 'survives car bomb attack'
GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Popular Resistance Committees leader Ayman al-Shashniya survived a car bombing outside his Gaza home on Friday night, a spokesman of the movement said.
Al-Shashniya was lightly injured when an explosive device planted in his parked car was set off around 11 p.m. damaging the house with him inside, spokesman Abu Mujahed said.
A bomb squad from the Gaza-based government is investigating the blast, Abu Mujahed added.
Al-Shashniya had no known enemies apart from Israel, Abu Majahed said.
The PRC was one of the groups which helped capture an Israeli soldier who was traded this week in exchange for 1,027 Palestinians held in Israeli jails.

IDF now mum on Eilat attacks that served as premise for Gaza bombing
A reporter exposes the fact that an IDF investigation acknowledges that the Eilat attackers came from Sinai, not the Gaza Strip; the IDF has nothing to say
Do you remember the Eilat attacks of two months back? How we were told, while the attack was still going on, that the attackers were the Popular Resistance Committees, and that therefore we have to attack Gaza? That such an attack took place, and also killed a child? Do you remember how, a month afterwards, we were quietly told that actually, all of the attackers were Sinai residents, not Gazans?
So last weekend, without much fanfare, Yediot’s Alex Fishman published the central findings of the IDF event investigation. They are very clear: Under the headline of “mistaken enemy,” Fishman brings in the facts. All of the attackers lived in Sinai and were members of a Jihadi terrorist cell, termed by the Israeli security apparatus “Sinawis.” The apparatus erred in thinking the attack was a PRC operation, says Fishman, since the Israel Security Agency, or Shin Bet, had warned the PRC was liable to attack in the same sector.
Oops. This is the new semi-official version, the one the IDF shows to the public by way of the military correspondents. You don’t actually think Fishman broke into the Kirya and stole some confidential documents, do you?
And they are confidential. I asked yesterday for the response of IDF Spokesman’s Lt. Col. Avial Leibovitz, who misspoke and then adamantly said the attackers were Gazans in Fishman’s article. This morning I received a reply: The whole investigation is embargoed, i.e. the IDF can’t say anything about it. I therefore asked the IDF Spokesman whether they intend to launch a leak investigation and find the person who leaked the secret document to Fishman; after all, for doing much the same, Anat Kam is now being charged with severe espionage. I was told to talk to the Defense Ministry.
So: Two months ago, the IDF was publicly adamant that the attack came from Gaza. Now it is using private channels to leak contrary information and won’t comment. Before the investigation, it was loquacious; After it, it is dumb. It’s a bit strange, isn’t it? Somewhat upside down?
This looks like a conspiracy to cover up the fact that the Defense Minister misspoke, and that as a result, an attack on Gaza took place, which led to a counter-attack, which in turn led to an escalation, in which an Israeli citizen (and 27 Gazans) died. Look, we did attack Gaza for no reason, but we had reason to think that….
The most disturbing aspect of this spin is that it came when the media was on full alert (at least, its alternative parts were). It’s unsettling to think how many of the IDF’s strident communiqués, about how we were attacked and were obliged to strike back hard, went down in precisely the same way.
Oh, and there was the usual IDF cheerleaders, who said that the attackers did come from Gaza, and that the fact no one mourned there was the proof – it meant Hamas clamped down on the mourners. Expect them to parrot the party line during the next round of hostilities, as well. They’ll say the same thing: Quiet, there’s shooting going on – and, hey, it’s just Ay-rabs.

IOF artillery blasts southern Gaza
RAFAH, (PIC)-- Israeli occupation forces (IOF) opened artillery fire at southern Gaza Strip at a late hour on Monday night targeting the vicinity of the Gaza international airport to the east of Rafah city, local sources said.
They said that IOF army tanks took part in the shelling and fired two projectiles at agricultural land near the airport, adding that no casualties or damages were reported.

PA: Israeli inaction encourages settler violence
RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- The Palestinian Authority on Monday said the Israeli government was "implicitly encouraging settlers to continue on their rampage" by failing to hold them to account for violent crimes.
"Israeli violations against Palestinians and their property and livelihood continue to increase with little or no action by the Israeli authorities to hold people to account under the rule of law," a government statement said.
The PA criticized Israeli settlers' ongoing assaults on Palestinians harvesting olives in Qalqiliya, Nablus, Salfit and Ramallah, and said settlers shot at villagers harvesting olives in Jaloud near Nablus on Friday, injuring four including a 12-year-old boy.
The Ramallah-based government also noted that the soldier who killed 33-year-old Issam Kamal Odeh in the northern West Bank in September has not been arrested.
The soldier's commander has been demoted following several operational and disciplinary events but will remain in the army, the PA noted.
Odeh was shot dead by Israeli forces following a settler raid in Qusra, near Nablus. An army inquiry said opening fire in response to a settler raid was an error in judgment, the Israeli news site Ynet reported, adding that the decision to remove the officer came after a number of different incidents.
No further action has been taken over the killing of Odeh, who was the father of seven children.
Meanwhile, several Palestinian children have been attacked in the last week. In Jerusalem, settlers kidnapped a child in Jerusalem and beat him before handing him to the Israeli army, the PA said, while undercover police kidnapped a 9-year-old child in Silwan.
Settlers threw stones at Palestinian cars near Ramallah, injuring an 11-year-old girl, and attacked students and teachers at a school near Hebron, the government said, adding that Israeli authorities had made no arrests in any of the incidents.
"We call on the international community to ensure that lawlessness is not allowed to pass unnoticed and, without consequences. As the occupying power, Israel is obliged by international law to prevent abuse of the occupied population. It is failing to do so."

Israel closes 'Hamas, PFLP' offices
Israel has closed down two offices in East al-Quds (Jerusalem) which were allegedly being used by the Palestinian Resistance Movement Hamas and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP).
Israeli police officials said the offices were closed down on Tuesday, claiming that they were “suspected of being used by Hamas and the PFLP,” AFP reported.
One of the offices is in the northern Dahiyat al-Barid neighborhood, while the other is located in the northeastern area of Shuafat.
The offices were ordered closed for one month, according to Israeli officials.
In May, Israeli police closed down another office in East al-Quds, under the pretext that it was being used by Hamas.
The Israeli regime occupied East al-Quds during the Six Day War of 1967.

4-year-old 'critically injured' after shooting
BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- A young Palestinian girl was shot late Tuesday in an incident near Israel's separation wall near the Anata district in occupied East Jerusalem, Palestinian and Israeli officials said Wednesday.
The circumstances of the shooting were not immediately clear. The family has blamed Israel's army but an Israeli military official denied involvement in the girl's injury.
The army was "not involved in this," a military spokesman told Ma'an. The shooting was "not IDF-related."
Asil Arara, 4, was playing before she was shot in her neck with a live bullet and taken to Makassed hospital, where she was operated on and determined to be in critical condition, Palestinian officials said.
The girl's family, of the Bedouin community, resides in the Anata area near an Israeli army camp, the Palestinian Government Media Center said in a statement on Wednesday.
"Israel must take responsibly for what happened as this is an area under its control," the statement said calling for an urgent and impartial investigation to "hold accountable those who shot this child."
"Palestinian life must be protected from the occupation," the statement said.

IDF Scumbags caught out in yet ANOTHER LIE!!!!
IDF: contrary to reports: Initial investigation indicatesthe Pal. child's relative is an arms dealer who accidentally shot the child.
Palestinian medical sources in occupied Jerusalem reported that a 4-year-old child, was shot by a stray live round in her neck fired by Israeli soldiers during training at the Anatot military base, built on lands illegally annexed from the residents Anata Palestinian town, north of Jerusalem.
The child, Aseel Ara’ra, 4, became quadriplegic after a life round hit her in the neck, and is currently in a serious condition, the Maan News Agency, reported.
The bullet entered the left side of her neck and exited on the right, shattering her spine causing paralysis from the neck down.

Asil Arara, 4, Paralyzed in Four Limbs after Being Shot in Neck by Israeli Army
Specialized medical teams performed nerve surgery on four-year-old Asil Arara on Wednesday night in al-Makased hospital after she was shot in the neck with a bullet fired from the nearby Israeli army training camp of Anatot, near the Palestinian village of Anata, northeast of Jerusalem. Asil was paralyzed in all four limbs from the wound, but can hear and speak.
Asil is staying in the intensive care room of the hospital, where her condition is described as “dangerous.” Sami Hussein, head of the neurosurgery department at al-Makased, confirmed she would be quadriplegic if she survived.
“The bullet entered the left side of her neck and exited through the other side, above the shoulder,” said Hussein. “It touched the spinal cord, shattered the membrane, and clipped the fourth vertebra.”
Hussein said it must have been a rifle bullet that caused the injury, not a handgun. The Israeli army's official spokesperson claimed on Twitter that following an "initial investigation," it believed the "child's relative is an arms dealer who accidentally shot the child." A story in the Hebrew-language edition of the Israeli newspaper Ha'aretz reported that the shooting may have happened at a wedding.
“The probability of her condition improving is very low, because the nerves don’t grow back,” said Hussein.
Samiha, Asil’s grandmother, said Asil was playing with her 10-year-old cousin next to the wall near her Anata home, about a hundred meters from the Anatot military camp. The cousin heard a shot and saw Asil flat on the ground. He rushed to the house to tell her family, whereupon Samiha ran outside, found Asil unconscious and covered in blood, and took her to the Anata medical center. From there, Asil was transferred to al-Makased.
The ambulance was delayed at the military checkpoint between Shu’fat refugee camp and Jerusalem for 15 minutes, Samiha recalled.
Asil’s mother was able to come to the hospital to be beside her daughter on Thursday morning after obtaining a permit to enter Jerusalem.
Dr. Mohammed Abu Taqa, one of the surgeons who treated Asil, said, “The bullet immediately exited her neck and did not leave any shrapnel.”
Khaled al-Juneidi, a friend of the family, demanded an immediate investigation into the shooting, and Anata-Jerusalem village liaison Yusef Mukhaymreh said the camp should be closed for causing so much suffering to the people of the region.

Israeli airstrikes on Deir al-Balah and Khan Younis
GAZA, (PIC)-- The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) have carried out four air raids at an early hour Thursday on unpopulated open areas in Deir Al-Balah and Khan Younis in the Gaza Strip.
Eyewitnesses told the Palestinian information center (PIC) that Israeli warplanes bombed a site used by Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, southwest of Deir Al-Balah causing a resounding explosion that was heard throughout the central and southern region.
Other aerial attacks were also carried out on an empty land to the west of Asda' district without any reported injuries.
The IOF claimed last night that three Grad missiles landed in the occupied city of Ashdod, 42 kilometers away from Gaza.

Israeli jets bomb Gaza Strip
Israeli aircraft have carried out three bombing attacks on the Palestinian city of Khan Yunes in the Gaza Strip, witnesses say.
The airstrikes targeted areas in eastern and western parts of the city during early hours of Thursday, AFP reported.
Israeli military officials confirmed the attacks, claiming that the air assaults were in response to “a rocket fired from the Gaza Strip late Wednesday,” a claim not yet verified by any official source in Gaza.
Witnesses said a base, belonging to the Palestinian Islamic resistance movement Hamas, was also targeted by the Israeli aerial attacks.
There have been no reports of casualties so far.
Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip have killed scores of Palestinians and injured many more over the past months.
On October 1, three Palestinians were injured in an Israeli drone attack on the town of Beit Hanoun in northern Gaza.
The Israeli regime has been launching airstrikes on Gaza on an almost regular basis since the end of the December 2008-January 2009 war on the Palestinian territories. The airstrikes have been carried out under the pretext of preventing attacks on Israel.

Israeli war planes raid Gaza Strip
GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Israeli war planes launched four airstrikes in central and southern Gaza early Thursday morning, witnesses and the army said.
No injuries were reported.
Locals told Ma'an that Israeli fighter jets shelled three open areas and a site used by Hamas' armed wing the al-Qassam Brigades in Khan Younis in the south and Deir al-Balah in central Gaza.
The Israeli army said its forces targeted "three terror activity sites" in central Gaza and a weapons storage facility in the southern Gaza Strip.
"Direct hits were confirmed," the military said in a statement.
The army said the strikes were in response to a grad rocket which landed near the city of Ashdod in southern Israel on Wednesday. An Israeli military spokeswoman said Wednesday that the rocket had caused no injury or damage.
The airstrikes were the first aerial attack on Gaza since Oct. 1, when Israeli fighter jets struck northern Gaza seriously injuring one man and wounding two others. An Israeli army spokeswoman said forces struck Beit Hanoun targeting militants attempting to fire a rocket into Israel.
