New and unknown deadly weapons used by Israeli forces
by Professor Paola Manduca
'Direct energy' weapons, chemical and/or biological agents, in a macabre experiment of future warfare
By now there are countless reports, from hospitals, witnesses, armament experts and journalists that strongly suggest that in the present offensive of Israeli forces against Lebanon and Gaza 'new weapons' are being used.
New and strange symptoms are reported amongst the wounded and the dead.
-- Bodies with dead tissues and no apparent wounds; 'shrunken' corpses;
-- civilians with heavy damage to lower limbs that require amputation, which is nevertheless followed by unstoppable necrosis and death;
-- descriptions of extensive internal wounds with no trace of shrapnel, corpses blackened but not burnt, and others heavily wounded that did not bleed.
Many of these descriptions suggest the possibility that the new weapons used include 'direct energy' weapons, and chemical and/or biological agents, in a sort of macabre experiment of future warfare, where there is no respect for anything:
International rules (from the Geneva Convention to the treaties on biological and chemical weapons).
Refugees, hospitals and the Red Cross.
Not to mention the people, their future, their children.
The environment which is poisoned through dissemination of Depleted Uranium
And toxic substances released after oil and chemical depots are bombed.
Right now, the Lebanese and Palestinian people have many urgent and impellent problems, yet many people believe that these episodes cannot and must not pass ignored.
In fact several appeals have been launched to scientists and experts with a view to investigating the issue.
With the intent of responding to such appeals, we have set up a team to investigate the testimonies, the images, and possibly the material evidence that delegations and NGOs will be able to bring from the affected areas.
Ask constantly for help and external verification and monitoring
The international committee is to report to the competent authorities, including the Human Rights tribunals and international courts, if appropriate.
As people and as scientists, we are offering our time and expertise in order to reach an understanding of the underlying facts, in the belief that a perspective of justice, equity and peace among people can be reached only with the respect of the rules defined up to now within the international community of nations.
The issue pertains to the behavior of the parties in an armed conflict.
We ask that the respect of these rules be verified in the context of the present conflict.
We invite scientists to contribute to this effort by offering their specific competences.
In particular we seek collaboration of toxicology experts, pharmacologists, anatomy pathologists, doctors with an expertise in trauma and burns, chemists.
They can reach the working group at the E-mail address: nuovearmi at gmail.com

Israeli settlers in the West Bank shoot and kill Palestinian vegetable merchant and injure his son
During Monday’s early dawn hours Israeli settlers shot and killed a man, and injured his son south of Nablus in the West Bank.
Palestinian security sources report that the Qalqilia area Hableh Village residents were passing through Dooma Village south of Nablus. Israeli settlers opened fire on 48 year old Husein Mardawi and his 19 year old son Dean. The father was killed and his son was injured.
As all Israeli settlements in the West Bank exist in direct contravention to international law, the crime is even more egregious. All settlements are constructed on lands that were illegally annexed and confiscated from their Palestinian owners.
Palestinian medical sources at Nablus’ Rafidiya Hospital report that the elder Mardawi received a bullet directly in the heart. Settlers are often heavily armed, just as are the soldiers in and around settlements. Mardawi’s teenage son is now in Rafidiya with moderate injuries, according to hospital sources.
PNN learned that Mardawi and his son were residents of the northwestern West Bank Qalqilia District village of Hableh and were passing through Dooma Village en route transporting vegetables as was their livelihood. Mardawi was the father of eight.
A local journalist pointed out that several Israeli settlements loom over the road the Palestinians must pass through to reach one West Bank town from another.
Details of the attack include that the Israeli shooters were driving a car with the yellow Israeli license plates, while the delivery truck sported the white Palestinian plates.
The settlers took direct aim at the elder Husein who was driving the delivery truck and also hit his son at close range as they fired from left to right. The Israeli settlers sped away quickly after killing the Palestinian man and injuring his son.
Palestinian security sources speculated Monday morning that the shooting is part and parcel to the Israeli war against Lebanon that Hezbollah is fighting back against, which has led to dozens of Israeli deaths and hundreds of Lebanese deaths. Others suggest that it is due to an Israeli settler recently found dead.
However, the media must keep its collective memory and not blame all current Israeli attacks against this latest spate of aggression as Israeli settlers are well-documented to attack Palestinians inside the West Bank from its furthest reaches south in Hebron to the most northern West Bank district of Jenin.

Three Palestinians, including a three-year old child, killed in an Israeli air strike
Palestinian medical sources in Al Shifa Hospital in Gaza reported on Wednesday at night that three Palestinians, including a three- year old child were killed, and three other residents were injured, in an Israeli air strike in Al Nafaq neighborhood in Gaza City.
The two killed residents were identified as Ahmad Hussein Al Mishal, 17, and Ramadan Al Majdalawy, 22, while the child was identified as Raja' Abu Sha'ban, 3.
A local source in Gaza reported that an Israeli military helicopter fired at least two missiles at a training location that belongs to the Salah Ed Deen brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad, killing the two fighters and moderately injuring three others.
Dr. Moawiya Hassanen, head of the Emergency Unit at the Palestinian Ministry of Health, reported that the head of the three year old child was decapitated as a result of the blast.
The targeted area is at the entrance of an agricultural farmlands and hothouses in Al Zarqa' area, in Al Nafaq neighborhood.
Abu Mojahid, the spokesperson of the Salah Ed Deen brigades, said that the missiles targeted a vehicle that was parked in a training center that belongs to the brigades.
Abu Mojahid added that the group will retaliate to the attack, and vowed to intensify the firing of homemade shells into Israeli areas in retaliation “to the continuous crimes carried by Israel against the Palestinian people”.
Meanwhile, an Israeli helicopter dropped leaflets over Al Shouka town in Rafah, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.
The leaflets warn the residents that the army will expand its attacks if the firing of homemade shells resumes and if the resistance continues to dig tunnels in the area.
Last week, seventeen residents, including children, were killed in Al Shouka and dozens of houses were totally destroyed. Vast areas of farmlands were bulldozed in the attack, and dozens of families became homeless after the army shelled and levelled their homes.

At least six killed, 15 injured by Israeli missile fired at convoy of fleeing refugees in Lebanon
A group of Lebanese civilians attempting to follow the Israeli instructions to evacuate southern Lebanon had formed a convoy of 600 civilian vehicles, accompanied by 350 Lebanese soldiers and police. The convoy was attempting to make its way north from the Christian city of Marjayoun Friday night when an Israeli war plane dropped a missile on the group.
This is not the first time that Israeli forces have struck a convoy heading north for safety - practically every convoy has taken casualties -- leading many of the estimated 80,000 Lebanese civilians remaining in southern Lebanon to decide they'd rather not risk it.
An Associated Press photographer, Lutfallah Daher, was with the convoy when it was hit near the Bekaa Valley town of Chtaura, about 30 miles north of the Litani River.
According to Daher, two armored U.N. peacekeeping vehicles were supposed to have accompanied the convoy, Daher said, but were not present when Israeli forces in Marjayoun gave the convoy permission to head north, so the convoy went ahead without them.
Israeli tanks and infantry took control of Marjayoun on Thursday, in the process, killing at least thirteen civilians who were attending a funeral of fifteen killed the day before.
The Israeli military spokesman inside Israel said that "no convoys had been approved", but added that the military is investigating the incident.
Security officials in the Bekaa said at least nine rockets had been fired on the convoy. Hospital officials in the town of Job Jannine said they had received 25 casualties from the attack, although it was not immediately clear how many were fatalities.
Lutfallah Daher, the Associated Press photographer who was travelling with the convoy, said that there was a second attack on Red Cross and civil defense vehicles rushing the aid of the stricken convoy. It was not known, he said, if any rescuers were hurt.
Eleven Lebanese people were killed earlier in northern Israel in an airstrike on the Abboudiyeh bridge in northern Israel. The bridge was destroyed, thus closing the final exit into Syria that had been available for the Lebanese people, and essentially, sealing them inside Lebanon as Israeli officials promise to step up their attacks.
Lebanese officials report that over 1,200 Lebanese people have been killed by Israeli forces since July 13th, one-third of them children. Although the Israeli government claims that 200 of those killed were fighters with Hezbollah, the Lebanese government claims the number of fighters killed is lower than 200.
What is agreed upon is that at least 1,000 civilians have been killed. In Israel, 33 civilians have been killed in the same time period, and over 80 soldiers.

Israeli officials: "We were mistaken" in attacking convoy of refugees, killing seven, on Friday
Israel has admitted that it was "mistaken" in attacking a convoy of hundreds of cars carrying people fleeing the fighting in southern Lebanon. At least six people were killed and 36 wounded when an unmanned Israeli aircraft fired five missiles on the convoy of more than 500 vehicles, and rescue workers rushing to the scene were also fired upon, killing one
The Israeli army confirmed it had carried out an air strike on the convoy, saying it had acted on the mistaken suspicion that Hezbollah guerrillas were smuggling weapons in the vehicles.
"The attack was carried out based on a suspicion. It was found to be incorrect," an army spokeswoman said.
The Israeli army said it had not granted permission for the convoy to travel as it was too dangerous.
The attack was near the Bekaa Valley town of Chtaura, about 50km north of the Litani River below which Israel had warned it may attack any vehicle on the roads.
350 Lebanese troops were
travelling wth the convoy
The Israeli army said the convoy was on a route that is often used by Hezbollah to transport weapons to the south - the convoy was heading north.
About 3,000 civilians and 350 Lebanese soldiers and policemen left the mainly Christian town of Marjayoun in the convoy a day after Israeli forces seized control of the area.
Witnesses said the victims were civilians.
One of the dead was a Red Cross worker who went to help people injured in the initial strikes.
