Report: Israel wages cyber war on Iran
LONDON (Ma'an) -- Israel has set up a cyber command center in a military defense unit in order to wage cyber war on Iran, according to a report in the British-weekly The Sunday Times.
The newspaper quoted a defense source saying Israel's cyber targets in Iran included the military nuclear program and military establishment, as well as civilian infrastructure.
"Attacking both, we hope, will cripple the entire country’s cyberspace," the sources told The Sunday Times.

The shooting of Ahmed al-Qaraeen: two years on
Silwan, Jerusalem (SILWANIC) -- Two years have passed since the shooting of Wadi Hilweh resident Ahmed al-Qaraeen. Qaraeen was shot by an extremist Israeli settler armed with an M-16 machine gun in Wadi Hilweh district of Silwan in both his legs, an attack the settler knew for which he would go unpunished.
Ahmed “Abu Wadee’h” al-Qaraeen continues to walk with crutches to this day, and lacks the strength for normal mobility. Qaraeen’s injuries have led to the loss of work and the ability to support himself, and as his injuries are unrecognised by Israeli authorities, receives no state support. Many of Qaraeen’s supporters have indeed been arrested by Israeli police.
Qaraeen has been the victim of frequently-reported assaults. Several months ago a member of the Israeli police attempted to arrest and physically assault him, then preventing medics from assisting Qaraeen.

Population of Gaza fears Israeli invasion in midst of communication blackout
Late Tuesday night, residents throughout Gaza lost internet, cell phone and landline phone service, creating a communication blackout similar to one which occurred just before a massive Israeli invasion in 2008. The blackout sparked fear among Gaza residents that an Israeli invasion might be underway.
Just before the communication blackout began, residents of northern Gaza witnessed Israeli armored bulldozers mobilizing along the northern border between Israel and the Gaza Strip.
The main Palestinian cellphone company, Jawwal, told reporters with Ma'an News Agency that they were aware of problems with service, but did not know what was causing it.
During the 2008-9 invasion of Gaza, Israeli forces bombed the main power plants, plunging Gaza into a sea of darkness. Due to the ongoing Israeli siege, the electricity infrastructure of the Gaza Strip has been unable to fully recover, and fuel shortages have prevented the power plants from operating at full capacity. Since the 2008 invasion, Gazans have been on rolling electricity blackouts most of the time - in most parts of Gaza, people receive just six hours of electricity a day.
The Israeli military did not issue any statement or comment on the communication cut-off.
According to local sources, telephone landlines run by Paltel, the Palestinian Telecommunications Agency, were cut off, along with cell phone service by all of the major cell companies.
The source of the blackout is still unknown.

Israel army 'preparing for Syria tension after UN bid'
TEL AVIV, Israel (Ma'an) -- Israel's army is readying for possible engagement with the Syrian military in September, should Palestinians in Syria storm the border after a UN vote on statehood, local media reported.
Israel's Haaretz daily said the army thinks it may be necessary to deal with Syrian military intervention in such a scenario, which it said could occur if Syria tried to deflect world attention from its crackdown on protests.
The Syrian army may send units to defend its residents in the event Israel's army opened fire, according to the army assessment. Until now, the assessment had been that President Bashar Assad wanted quiet, Haaretz said.
The army has also decided it will not use tanks in the West Bank if violence erupts because "there are no large terror cells in the field or weapons that require tanks to deal with them," a senior official told the daily.

Palestinian shepherd severely injured in landmine blast north of Jordan Valley
TUBAS, (PIC)-- A Palestinian shepherd sustained moderate to severe injuries on Friday when an Israeli landmine exploded at him as he was grazing sheep in the northern part of Jordan Valley east of Tubas city.
Local sources said that Ahmed Eid was taken by a civilian car to an Israeli military checkpoint near the area and then transferred from there by an ambulance to a medical center in Tubas.
Ahmed stayed bleeding for half an hour in the scene before he was spotted by Palestinian citizens in the area.
According to the sources, he lost four fingers of his right hand and sustained shrapnel wounds in his neck and after he was given fist aid, he was transferred to Refidia hospital in Nablus city.
51 minefields have been established by the Israeli occupation state since 1967 in the Palestinian lands, especially in Jordan Valley and north and south of the West Bank.
A Palestinian citizen from Jordan Valley told the Palestinian information center (PIC) that these landmines detonate by contact with any person, which led to the injury and death of hundreds of Palestinian citizens.
He added these landmines can be found adjacent to some nomadic communities, like Khirbet Yezra and Wadi Al-Maleh, and around their homes, grazing lands and water wells.
Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper had said in a report that the Israeli landmines extend over 300,000 dunums of the total historical Palestinian lands, most of them fertile lands.

Al-Quds Brigades warns of possible Israeli aggression
GAZA, (PIC)-- Al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad party, warned that Israel could once again target its leaders after Israeli war minister Ehud Barak made accusations of missiles being fired by the Brigades from the Gaza Strip.
“Barak’s accusations come in the framework of an incitement campaign launched by the Zionist entity (Israel) against the resistance. They are trying thereby to assign blame to the Palestinians for firing missiles in a prelude to targeting this faction and its cadres,” said the Al-Quds Brigades spokesman Abu Ahmed.
“We are taking these accusations seriously, as they are a potential prelude to the targeting of the brigades’ leadership and cadres. Therefore, we have taken special security measures to avoid falling into the enemy's trap,” Abu Ahmed went on to say.
“Any folly committed by the enemy would be met with a specific reaction,” he declared.
He warned Israel against launching a new military operation in Gaza, saying that resistance forces have gained possession of capabilities that could inflict heavy losses on Israel’s army should it advance towards the civilian population.

Adham Abu Salmiya, the spokesman for the medical services confirmed that the IOF firing wounded the 42-year-old man (Y.Z), adding that he was hospitalized.
Israeli occupation forces target Palestinian fishermen, imposing restrictions on fishing works, repeatedly it destroys their boats and prevent them from sailing so far for fishing.
Mostly, fishing is a work of poor people in Gaza, they can provide their families with the essential needs for life, while poverty in Gaza is now on high range because of the Israeli imposed siege.
Israel’s naval blockade of Gaza is a gross violation of international law and of the human rights of the people of Gaza.
