Two Palestinian Children Injured from Dud Bomb in South Hebron Hills
Last Friday (20 May) two Palestinian children were injured from a dud Israeli lightening bomb in the South Hebron Hills village of Buweb. Additionally, the Green Patrol is threatening to uproot trees belonging to the residents of Hirbet Jinba, also in the South Hebron Hills, claiming they are planted over the Green Line.
Last Friday, 20 May, two Palestinian children were injured from a dud left by the occupation army on the lands of Buweb. The village of Buweb is located in the South Hebron Hills, East of the Dirath village. It appears that the dud was a lightening bomb that the children found. The dud exploded in the children’s hands and they sustained burns all over their body. The children were taken to a hospital in Hebron, and will require long-term and extensive treatments.
On Sunday (22 May) an addition dud was located some 100 metres from where the children were injured. The principal of the Buweb village school immediately called the police, notifying them of the danger. On Monday, after the police had done nothing to remove the dangerous dud, the principal contacted Ta’ayush. http://www.taayush.org/
When we reached the area we found an unidentified silver object, and contacted the police. This time the police were notified by the voice of an Israeli Jew. The conversation was transferred amongst several clerks, who contended that this was Area A and that we should therefore contact the Palestinian Authority. However, the village of Buweb is located in Area C, under total Israeli control. After several long minutes and a “threat” that the next phone call would be from an attorney, the police agreed to take responsibility.
It took several more hours until a sapper arrived to remove the bomb, more than one day after the original notification was made.
We arrived to Jinba yesterday, Tuesday (24 May), after we heard that the “Green Patrol” scheduled a meeting with the village residents in order to give them a demolition order. A Palestinian community has lived in Jinba for tens of decades, if not hundreds of years. Several times in the past Israel attempted to deport Jinba residents using various specious contentions. Staff of the Israel Land Authority and the Green Patrol arrived yesterday, contending that one plot on which the residents recently planted olive and pomegranate trees is located on the Israeli side of the Green Line and that they will therefore uproot the trees. From an expert examination we learned that the area noted on the demolition order is located 100 metres south of the Green Line and within Palestine.

FPJS condemns IOF for raiding house of Palestinian journalist Alaa al-Titi
GAZA, (PIC)-- The Forum of Palestinian Journalists has condemned the Israeli occupation forces for raiding the home of Palestinian journalist Alaa al-Titi from the Al-Arub refugee camp in Al-Khalil and the arrest of his brother Hisham Jabr al-Titi, 17, who is a high school student.
The FPJS called for real Arab and world pressure to be exerted against Israel in order to curb such practices as the arrest that took place.
Israeli raids targeting the homes of journalists come as an attempt to intimidate and pressure their families in order to stop them from exposing the Israeli occupation, the FPJS said, asserting that Palestine's journalists would “remain guardians of the truth and nation with their pens, lenses, and voices”.
The FPJS called for forming an international committee designed to pressure Israel into abiding by regulations concerning the media.
A force of 20 soldiers raided Titi's home at around 2:30am and locked all the people living in the house in one room while they searched the three-storey home for more than an hour.

Gaza fishermen ask for international protection in Gaza waters
GAZA, (PIC)-- Hundreds of fishermen in the besieged Gaza Strip have urged the international community to provide them with international protection against the Israeli maritime blockade that denied them their main source of sustenance.
The call of the fishermen came as they held a sit-in near the fishermen wharf in Gaza city urging the international community to stop Israeli piracy and the indiscriminate shooting at them by the Israeli navy vessels.
They also urged the international community to help them expand the "permissible" area for fishing, saying the present three kilometer limit wasn’t enough to catch fish.
"Today, we remember our comrades who were killed in cold blood with Israeli bullets while searching for their families' sustenance in the sea…. today, we remember the hundreds of fishermen who were arrested by the IOF troops and lost their fishing boats… we have all the right to fishing inside our waters without limitation," said Mohammed Bakr, one of the fishermen, as he spoke before the sit-inners.

IOF declares Iraq Burin closed military zone
NABLUS, (PIC)-- The Israel occupation forces (IOF) has declared Iraq Burin village south of Nablus city in the West Bank a closed military zone in a bid to block media and activists from entering the village ahead of anti-apartheid wall protests.
The IOF has erected a barrier at the entrance between the villages of Iraq Burin and Tel, as soldiers have begun searching civilians and blocked entry to all but the village's residents, Iraq Burin mayor Abdul-Raheem Qaddous told our correspondent.
Qaddous said the move was a proactive step to curb marches organized every Saturday by locals to protest the confiscation of land and settlement construction as well as repeated attacks by settlers.
Witnesses said the army used military vehicles to blockade the village's main entrances and sent dozens of troops to stop foreign pro-Palestinian activists from nearing the village to show support. They have also restricted the movement and activities of locals themselves.
Jewish settlers, especially those from the nearby Bracha settlement, have notoriously attacked the village in efforts to take the land and stop locals from using the local well.

IOF places tight grip on village near Nablus
QALQILYA, (PIC)-- The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) has tightened procedures at the gates of the separation wall in the Azzun Atma village near Qalqilya, locals have reported.
For the past week, the IOF has been curbing civilian movement there through provocative searches and inspections.
Long lines of students, farmers, and laborers have mounted daily outside the gates as searches continue.
Azzoun Atma is encircled by the Orinet, Shaarei Tikva, Elkana settlements, which are said to serve as a “death certificate” to the farming village as they blockade it and take the majority of the land and restrict the possibility of its expansion.
Walls have been erected on all four sides of the village for alleged security reasons.
Khalid Raddad, a resident, points out that the planning situation has isolated Azzoum Atma from nearby villages Beit Amin and Sineria, which serve as natural extensions to it. The result is that families are separated from each other as well as farmers from their fields.
“We are forced to cross the wall's gates which are only opened for us during the daytime after waiting hours in an inspection line. We have to also cross a physical inspection whenever we want to leave the village to buy something or for work or for school or just to go to whatever is beyond the wall,” Khalid says.
He goes on to say that outsiders are not permitted to enter, and school teachers and women married outside face major inconveniences when going in and out of the village and must produce permits for that.

Israeli army invades Bil’in village
West Bank, (Pal Telegraph)-Israeli occupation forces invaded Sunday the village of Bil’in in the west of Ramallah amid massive gunfire .
Rateb Abu Rahma, anti-wall committee coordinator, said that Israeli forces invaded the village causing a state of panic among civilians due to bombing loudly.
He added that Israeli military forces withdrew from the village without detentions reported.
Abu Rahma denounced the ongoing Israeli attacks against innocent people in order to prevent them from participating in the peaceful rallies which are organized to protest the construction of the Separation Wall.
After Israeli authorities started the construction of the Wall in 2005, Palestinians formed the Popular Committee Against the Wall with the participation of Israeli activists, international supporters, and Palestinian youths to organize weekly demonstrations calling for an end to the illegal Israeli acts in the area.

Over 1,600 Israelis enter Nablus overnight
NABLUS (Ma’an) -- Israeli soldiers escorted 1,600 Israelis into the northern West Bank city of Nablus overnight Sunday to visit Joseph's Tomb.
An additional 200 Israeli settlers entered Palestinian neighborhoods without coordinating with Israeli authorities, an Israeli military spokesman said.
Around 50 settlers barricaded themselves inside the West Bank city, and an army spokesman said confrontations erupted between the settlers and Israeli soldiers trying to evacuate them.
Under the Oslo accords, Nablus is in Area A and is part of the 17 percent of the West Bank under Palestinian civil and security control. But the visit was not coordinated with the PA, Palestinian security sources told Ma'an.
Witnesses said Ultra-Orthodox settlers were among the visitors. Locals said Huwwara checkpoint, south of Nablus, was closed at midnight and Palestinian drivers were not allowed to use the main road from the city.
Israeli forces set up several flying checkpoints in the area, locals and an Israeli military spokesman said.
The army spokesman said Palestinians had filed complaints over property damage caused by Israeli settlers during the visit. He said all complaints would be "thoroughly examined by the relevant authorities."
Nablus residents said around 50 military vehicles escorted the Israelis, who arrived at around 1 a.m. and left at 5 a.m.
