Israeli wide demolitions in Aqaba village this morning
TUBAS, (PIC)-- The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) have embarked since the early morning hours of today on widespread demolitions in Aqaba village in Tubas city, north of the West Bank.
Head of the village council Sami Sadeq said a large number of Israeli troops and military bulldozers stormed the village and closed its entrances before starting to destroy homes, barns, roads and everything on their way.
Sadeq appealed to foreign activists who visited the village lately to swiftly intervene to prevent Israel form continuing its demolitions that are aimed to erase the entire village from the map.
He noted that the Israeli occupation authority notified 95 percent of the village natives of its intention to tear down their real estate at the pretext their village was established in the area classified as C which is under its control.
Aqaba village is located on the eastern slopes overlooking the Jordan Valley region. Israel refuses to recognize any Palestinian villages there and its army uses the area to carry out military maneuvers and drills.
In another incident, the IOF on Wednesday morning confiscated tractors owned by Palestinians in an area near Mijula settlement in the Jordan Valley region.
Local sources from the region said Israeli troops set up barriers at intersections of agricultural roads and ambushed tractors before seizing them at the pretext their owners had no IDs.
According to the sources, the troops confiscated more than 10 tractors and took them to Mijula settlement.

100 women detained in Awarta
NABLUS (AFP/Ma'an) -- Israeli troops stormed the village of Awarta on Thursday morning, arresting more than 100 women in what local officials said was part of the ongoing investigation into the murder of five settlers in March.
Hundreds of troops entered Awarta - the village adjacent to Itamar, and illegal settlement where the murders took place - shortly after midnight and imposed a curfew after which they began rounding up the women, local council head Tayis Awwad said.
Soldiers continued to conduct house-to-house searches through the night, the officials added, while Palestinian security sources confirmed the report.
This was the fourth intensive raid of the village where scores were detained, the first coming the day after an unidentified attacker stabbed to death five members of the Fogel family, including two children and an infant.
But Thursday's raid marked the first time they had arrested any women, Awwad said.
In the wake of the murders, Awarta has been the centre of a massive manhunt. The village was put under military closure, and a curfew was imposed for five days between 12 and 16 March. Some 40 men were detained during the closure, and since then two more mass round ups were reported by local officials.
Those detained have been questioned and subject to DNA testing, officials said last week.
So far no one has been charged, with the military refusing to comment on the operation.
Awarta was the second village put under closure overnight, with locals in the Tubas area saying the Israeli army, backed by military bulldozers, entered the village of Aqaba where two homes were demolished.
Witnesses said six bulldozers and hundreds of soldiers were deployed throughout the village during the demolition.
Sami Sadeq, head of the village council, said two streets leading out of the village were also torn up, effectively rendering them useless for travel, forcing residents to take long detours and exit via the main entrance of the village.
Sadeq said some 95 percent of the structures in the village have demolition orders issued on them, including the village's grand mosque, kindergarten and homes.
The bulldozing destroyed electricity poles at the entrance of the village, and the homes of Mohammad Hassen Subieh and Abed An-Naser Ahmad Subieh, the official said.

IOF troops destroy Palestinian village in Jordan Valley
JORDAN VALLEY, (PIC)-- Dozens of IOF troops supported by armored military vehicles and bulldozers stormed Thursday the Palestinian village of Samra in the northern part of the valley and demolished homes belonging to Palestinian shepherds in it.
Palestinian human rights organizations condemned the IOF practices in the village and described it as part of the Israeli occupation government attempts to empty the Valley of Palestinians.
Two weeks ago, the Israeli "committee of construction and organization" stormed the village and handed over demolition notices to the Palestinian shepherds alleging that the village belongs to areas classified by the Oslo agreement as area "C", which is fall under Israeli control.
The shepherds, however, produced authentic documents proving they own the land even before the Israeli occupation of the West Bank in 1967; yet, no one listened to them. Residents of Samra confirmed that their village was surrounded by three IOF military camps posing big danger to their lives.

Israeli forces demolish more Palestinian homes
(2:28) Israeli forces demolish more Palestinian homes - Press TV News
Amid an intensifying Israeli targeting of Palestinian houses in the West Bank, two houses and three cattle shelters were razed down by Israeli military bulldozers in the village of Al-Aqaba.
Sami Sadeq, head of the village's council explained that 95% of Al-Aqaba's families have received demolition warnings from the Israeli civil administration.
Israel considers the area a military closed zone where no building is allowed.
Three stray bullets penetrated Mr. Sadeq%u2019s back forty years ago during Israeli military drills in the area, which paralyzed him.
Figures from the UN agency for Palestinian refugees recorded 76 demolitions of Palestinian buildings in March, forcibly displacing 158 Palestinians including 64 children.
On the same day, Israeli troops stormed the village of Awarta near the West Bank city of Nablus and abducted over 100 Palestinian women. Israeli officials said the arrests are part of the ongoing investigation into the murder of five settlers in March.
Israel also demolishes Palestinian homes for expansion of its settlements in the WB and other cities. These settlements are deemed illegal by international laws and the international community.
Palestinians have been urging the international community to step in and stop the demolitions and the settlement building in the region.
The ongoing Israeli military activities in the West Bank are perceived by the Palestinians as a clear reminder of the need to resist against the occupation and draw strength from the current Arab uprisings.

Israeli army bulldozes Palestinian homes
(4:05) Israel demuele Al Aqaba PALESTINA
Israeli military bulldozers have razed to ground more Palestinian homes in the occupied West Bank village of Al-Aqaba.
The destruction of two Palestinian houses and three cattle shelters in the village on Thursday clearly illustrates the political agenda driving Israel's relentless demolition policy.
Sami Sadeq, head of the village council, explained to a Press TV correspondent on Thursday that 95% of Al-Aqaba's families have received demolition warnings from the Israeli civil administration.
Israel considers the area a military closed zone where no construction is allowed by Palestinians, who are the real land-owners.
Three stray bullets penetrated Sadeq's back and paralyzed him forty years ago during Israeli military drills in the area.
Sadeq told Press TV that in 1999, Israeli army came and destroyed electricity, telephone and water infrastructures in the village. Later in 2003, they came back and demolished two houses.
Figures from the UN agency for Palestinian refugees recorded 76 demolitions of Palestinian buildings in March alone, forcibly displacing 158 Palestinians, including 64 children.
It is an ethnic cleansing policy to evacuate the area and make it pure for settlements and colonization, said Jamal Joum'ah of the Stop the Wall Campaign.
On the same day, Israeli troops stormed the village of Awarta near the West Bank city of Nablus and abducted over 100 Palestinian women. Israeli officials said the arrests are part of the ongoing investigation into the murder of five settlers in March.
Palestinians have been urging the international community to stop the demolitions and illegal settlement building in the region.
The ongoing Israeli military activities in the West Bank are perceived by the Palestinians as a clear reminder of the need to resist against the occupation and draw strength from the current Arab uprisings.

Israel demolishes Negev homes on Monday
NAZARETH, (PIC)-- Israeli bulldozers demolished Monday morning several homes and other structures in the village of Bir al-Hamam on the road to Dimona city, as well as some structures in a village near Araara in the Negev desert, said Ibrahim al-Waqili, who heads the council of unrecognized villages.
He added that Israel claimed the structures were built without permit and has declared the region a closed military zone.
Separately, the Israel occupation force has arrested three Palestinian men and set up random checkpoints at the entrances of the West Bank city of Al-Khalil.
The men were arrested after a large force infiltrated several neighborhoods and searched homes.
Checkpoints were set up in the northern and southern entrances of the city, and soldiers searched cars and inspected identifications without report of arrest.
The same day, Jewish settlers from Tel Rumeida, Al-Khalil vandalized and assaulted several shops in the Old City as Israeli soldiers stood by and did nothing. They also set fire to one of the shops.

Al-Maqdesi: 200 demolition orders in J'lem since 2011 started
OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)-- Al-Maqdesi foundation for society development said the Israeli occupation authority (IOA) have issued since the start of this year no less than 200 demolition orders against Palestinian homes in occupied Jerusalem.
In a report, Al-Maqdesi highlighted some of the Israeli violations that happened during this year or would happen in east Jerusalem.
According to the report, the Israeli central court in east Jerusalem ordered the displacement of a Palestinian family from its home in Ras Al-Amoud district and permitted settlers to live in its place.
The IOA forced a Palestinian family from Sur Baher district to demolish its own home so as to avoid paying 140, 000 shekels as demolition expenses.
The Israeli district committee of planning and building declared its intention to build 1, 608 housing units in settlements of Pisgat Ze'ev and Har Homa and 2, 200 other units in settlements of Talat Shufat and Ramat Shlomo.
The committee also intends to annex 662 dunums of Palestinian lands in Attur and Issawiya area in order to establish gardens, public building and tourist sites within the eastern slopes of Azzeitoun Mount in order to connect Jerusalem with the settlement project E1 near Ma'ale Adumim settlement.
The Israeli magistrates' court ordered the evacuation of Abul Nada café in Mesrara neighborhood and the seizure of real estate in Jerusalem.
A Zionist society called Atirat Kohanim started to make renovation works in a Palestinian carpenter's workshop which it seized years ago in the old city of Jerusalem, while an Israeli court decided to displace two Palestinian families from their homes in Beit Hanina area and give them to another Zionist society.
The Israeli municipal council in Jerusalem approved the building of a bridge leading to Al-Maghariba Gate of the Aqsa Mosque.
It also approved the building of 14 housing units as a prelude to setting up a new settlement in Ras Al-Amud district in Jerusalem and ordered the seizure of 480 dunums of Abu Dis lands in order to expand the segregation wall.
The Knesset, for its part, approved the third reading of a bill against the Palestinian Nakba (catastrophe) which provides for reducing the budget of any institution that gets government funding if it stages or supports any event commemorating the Nakba.
The report also pointed out to a number of Israeli arbitrary measures taken against Christian Palestinians including the Israeli interior minister's refusal to renew the residency of father Suhail Duni, the bishop of the Episcopal church, at the pretext of his collaboration with the Palestinian authority.
A Zionist company for the development of the Jewish outpost in the old city of Jerusalem decided to expel a Christian resident because he is not Jewish.

Israel Demolishes Tin-Houses, Barns, Near Jericho
The Jerusalem Legal Aid and Human Rights Center reported that Israeli soldiers violated a ruling issued by the Israeli High Court, and demolished six tin-houses and barns that belong to Bedouin residents living in Al Nwei'ma area, near the Jericho City.
The Center sent an urgent letter to the Israeli Prosecution, the Legal Councilor and the High Court demanding them to stop the violation.
The Center added that the Israeli army recently demolished several tin-houses and barns in the same area, also in direct violation to a ruling issued by the High Court earlier this year.
The Court ordered a delay of the demolishing of the structures but the army demolished barns and tin-houses anyway, without even obtaining the approval of the so-called Civil Administration Office.
Residents of Al Nwei'ma area received the demolish orders just before the end of last year and during the first days of this year. They granted The Jerusalem Legal Aid and Human Rights Center power of attorney, and the center managed to obtain a temporary order against the demolitions, and against removing the residents from the area.
Al Nwei'ma is a Bedouin area inhibited by members of the Al Zayed family, part of Al Rashayda Tribe. They are natives to Ein Gedi area before they were forced out, and lived in several areas, especially in Dir Dibwan.
After the creation of Israel in historic Palestine in 1948, the tribe was removed once again after the army declared the area as a closed military zone. They had to relocate to the Rammoun area.
In 1998, the tribe had to relocate to the Al Nwei'ma area due to its close proximity to Jericho as they managed to receive limited civil services. The tribe depends on raising live-stock as the only source of livelihood.

IOF violate court decision, raze Bedouin homes in Nuwaimi'ah
JERICHO, (PIC)-- The Jerusalem legal aid and human rights center said the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) violated the higher court's decision and demolished homes and structures belonging to Bedouin clans in Nuwaimi'ah area near Jericho city.
The center added that it demanded on Wednesday the Israeli prosecution bureau, the IOF judicial advisor and the higher court to explain why the Israeli army violated the court decision.
The center noted that the Israeli army pulled down homes, barns and other structures belonging to the Bedouin families without an order from the civil administration and in violation of the higher court's decision which ordered a freeze on any action against the families and their property.
Nuwaimi'ah Bedouins received demolition warnings at the end of last year and earlier this year and the Jerusalem center on behalf of them followed all legal procedures to revoke any moves aimed to raze their homes or displace them.
Meanwhile, an Israeli military court issued a decision to demolish a barn for poultry and livestock and a water well in Beera village, southwest of Al-Khalil city.
The land research center said Israel troops stormed the village and gave the owner one week to remove the barn and the well at his own expense.
In a separate incident, Israeli troops at dawn Thursday kidnapped two Palestinian citizens from Al-Khalil city and stole jewelry and two thousands shekels from a house in Idna town.
In Burin village, south of Nablus city, armed Jewish settlers and troops on Wednesday evening attacked the village and fired tear gas grenades at the Palestinian residents who defended themselves without any reported injuries.

Demolition orders handed out in south
HEBRON (Ma'an) -- Israeli authorities gave a military order to demolish a barn and a water well in the village of Al-Bira village southwest of Hebron on Thursday afternoon.
According to the Land Research Center, land owner Yasser Salem Al-Awawda was handed the notification, which gave one week for the structures on the property to be taken down.
Al-Awawda told the center that he removed the barn's roof, citing concern that the demolition would harm his cattle.
The barn was built in 2007 on an area of 350 square meters while the well was drilled in 2000 with the capacity of 250 cubic meters.
A representative for Israel's Civil Administration, which maintains control of building permits for Palestinians in parts of the occupied West Bank under Area C jurisdiction, could not be reached for comment.

Army Occupies Several Homes In Hebron, Uses Them As Monitoring Towers
Palestinian sources in the southern West Bank city of Hebron reported Tuesday morning that Israeli soldiers broke into and occupied a number of homes and used them as monitoring towers.
The homes in question are located near settler-only roads leading to illegal Israeli settlements.
The sources stated that soldiers occupied the home of Issa Al Froukh, located near Beit Einoun-Sair Junction, overlooking settlement road number 60. The soldiers placed their gear on top of the home and prevented the family from moving freely in their own property.
Soldiers also broke into the home of Omar Shabana, at the entrance of Bani Neim town, also overlooking a settlement road, and used its rooftop as a monitoring tower.
The home is close to the site were Palestinian gunmen killed four settlers nine months ago.
Furthermore, troops occupied rooftops of several homes near the Keryat Arba' illegal settlement, in Hebron, and restricted the movement of the residents.
The army stated that the measure was conducted in order to provide security for the settlers during the Jewish Pesach feast.
It is worth mentioning that the West Bank was placed under a ten-day siege starting Monday, while the Ibrahimi mosque in Hebron will be closed to Muslim worshipers on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Yatta herders fear demolitions
HEBRON (Ma'an) -- Villagers in the southern West Bank governorate of Yatta said they feared the immanent demolition of their homes and animal sheds Wednesday, as a demolition order handed out by Israeli forces the week before came into effect.
The residents of Um Zeitouna, southeast of Yatta, received orders from Israel's Civil Administration in early April warning that their homes were to be demolished, citing a lack of permit.
A dozen tents and animal shelters were listed as illegal by the orders. The majority of buildings set for demolition belong to the families of Mahmoud Abu Taha, Muhammad Abu Taha and Ibrahim Al-Da'ajneh, the residents said.
The demolitions come as UN officials warned of a doubling of home and building demolitions carried out by Israeli forces since the beginning of 2011.
"I am not saying this is classic ethnic cleansing, but the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights has condemned this discrimination and make no mistake, it is discrimination against one ethnic group," UNRWA spokesman Chris Gunness commented following the release of the demolition figures.

IOF soldiers, settlers storm WB cities, villages
QALQILIA, (PIC)-- Israeli occupation forces (IOF) stormed the city of Qalqilia on Wednesday, detained citizens, and questioned them before handing six of them summonses to the intelligence headquarters.
Local sources said that IOF troops in four army vehicles entered the city in the company of an intelligence officer ad picked a number of young men at random and questioned them.
IOF soldiers arrested a Palestinian youth in Bardala village, east of Tubas city, at a roadblock on its entrance on Wednesday. They later burst into the village and stole the car of a 55-year-old Palestinian man before leaving the village.
Similar roadblocks were installed east and west of Jenin city but no arrests were reported.
The soldiers in Awarta village installed electricity poles east of the village, its municipal council chairman Qaid Awad said in a radio statement.
He added that the electricity poles would be used to supply power to a number of settlers' caravans in addition to an army base to be pitched on 1000 dunums of village lands that were earlier confiscated. Awad warned that the IOA was planning to confiscate 4000 more dunums of the village land.
Meanwhile, eyewitnesses in Burin village, south of Nablus, said that dozens of Jewish settlers entered the village in buses on Wednesday morning.
Locals warned of possible attacks after the settlers on Tuesday assaulted and wounded a farmer. The head of the municipal council in the village said that the settlers were planning to set up a settlement outpost south of Nablus near the village.

Israel troops destroy structures by Gaza crossing
GAZA CITY (AFP) -- Israeli troops made a brief incursion into Gaza early on Thursday to demolish several buildings which the army said were being used by "terrorist organizations".
Palestinians said the buildings were warehouses holding goods which had been transferred to the Gaza Strip via the nearby Karni crossing, which Israel shut down earlier this year.
Witnesses said the buildings contained assorted equipment, children's diapers, scrap metal and cleaning detergent. The goods were damaged during the destruction of the warehouses.
The operation also damaged a room holding the electrical generators for the industrial zone near the Karni crossing, they said.
An Israeli military spokeswoman said the operation was intended to raze buildings being used by "terrorist organizations" in the Gaza Strip.
"Israel Defense Forces dismantled structures that previously were a part of the Karni crossing, which were used by terrorist organizations to execute terrorist activities against IDF soldiers and Israeli civilians," she said.
"In light of security assessments and alerts of terrorist activity from the area, (the region's commander) Major-General Tal Russo ordered the closure and the dismantling of the Karni crossing approximately two months ago," she added.
Goods that had previously been transferred into Gaza through Karni, which sits adjacent to Gaza City on the coastal territory's eastern border with Israel, are now transferred through the Kerem Shalom crossing in the south.
Palestinian merchants and truck drivers have complained that the southern crossing is inconvenient, as it lies further than Karni from Gaza's main population center, Gaza City.

IOF carry out violent raid on Tareq Ibn Ziyad school in Al-Khalil
Al-KHALIL, (PIC)-- The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) on Thursday morning violently stormed Tareq Ibn Ziyad school in the Old City of Al-Khalil and terrorized its students and teachers.
Eyewitnesses said the IOF encircled the school, knocked down its main gate before spreading in its courtyard.
They also broke into classrooms in a violent way forcing students and teachers to gather in the school yard.
The IOF have not given an explanation for such savage act.
In another incident, the IOF and Jewish settlers intensified their attacks against Palestinian citizens and their property in Al-Khalil city on the occasion of their purim holiday.
The IOF stormed many villages and towns in Al-Khalil city during this Jewish occasion and erected barriers throughout the city searching cars, checking IDs, and detaining citizens.
The armed Jewish settlers, for their part, under military protection carried out many burglaries and acts of sabotage against the Palestinians and their agricultural property, while the Israeli occupation authority (IOA) issued decisions ordering some Palestinian farmers and villagers to evacuate their lands and hand them over to settlers.
In the same context, Jewish settlers on Thursday morning started to carry out construction activities to expand an outpost near Itamar settlement that was build on the territory of Awarta village southeast of Nablus city.
Palestinian sources said the IOF soldiers, for their part, embarked on building a road leading to this new outpost that the settlers established in response to the killing of five settlers from Itamar.
The IOF also proceeded to set up electricity towers in the area to power three mobile homes and three tents erected by the settlers.

IOF bulldozers raze factories east of Gaza
GAZA, (PIC)-- Israeli occupation forces (IOF) crossed into eastern Gaza city on Thursday morning escorting huge bulldozers that destroyed Palestinian factories in the industrial area near the Mintar crossing.
Local sources said that the IOF soldiers also bulldozed agricultural land lots and destroyed electricity transformer stations.
They pointed out that the soldiers opened indiscriminate fire at nearby residential neighborhoods in the process.
The IOF command ordered closure of the Mintar crossing a few months ago and replaced it with the Karm Abu Salem, which is not adequately fit for crossing of enough goods needed by the Gaza Strip.

Tanks enter Gaza City industrial zone
GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Several Israeli tanks penetrated Gaza's border on Thursday morning, entering the Gaza City industrial zone where they demolished an unknown number of factories, all which had been closed since 2005.
The industrial zone, near the now closed Karni crossing, is less than a kilometer away from the border, and was set up near the crossing to facilitate exports.
With the closure of the Karni crossing in 2007, leaving it to operate twice a week for the import of grains and construction materials, and the permanent closure of the crossing on 2 March, the industrial zone has lain dormant for the past four years.
Official sources in Gaza told Ma'an that sheds, and shelters formerly used by PA security forces before 2007 were also demolished during the incursion.
One official who preferred to remain anonymous said he was miffed by the move, saying the demolition had been carried out "despite the fact that this place is calm and there have been no operations by factions carried out from the zone."
An Israeli military spokeswoman said she was looking into the report.

Israeli soldier hurls grenade near Aqsa Mosque
OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)-- An Israeli soldier hurled a grenade late Wednesday night in the courtyard of the Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem.
An Israeli patrol vehicle parked near the eastern wall of the mosque, Palestinian witnesses reported. Then, a soldier exited and threw an explosive grenade at a bush area in the courtyard and fled the scene towards the Mount of Olives. However, there was no report of injury or damage.
In a related development, extremist Jewish groups have boosted presence outside of the Aqsa Mosque and roamed the mosque's courtyards under the protection of Israeli soldiers and police.
A mosque security guard said Israeli police have pushed more of its elements to support its forces stationed at the Aqsa Mosque's Dome of the Rock, while Palestinian worshipers stationed at the mosque since dawn prayers have carefully watched the Jewish settlers who have entered the sacred zone. The worshippers said they would confront attempts to perform Jewish rituals in the courtyard.

PLO denounces move to seize Jerusalem homes
BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- The PLO leadership has denounced Israel's decision to confiscate 27 Palestinian homes and expel their residents from a neighborhood in occupied East Jerusalem.
"This move is carried out within a plan of racist ethnic cleansing by the rightist Israeli government against Jerusalem," the PLO said in a statement condemning the plan for Sheikh Jarrah that came to light Tuesday.
"This step comes as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is about to propose a peace plan to the US Congress, and it indicates that the Israeli government's priority is ethnic cleansing and settlement."
The PLO urged the Quartet and its member states to immediately intervene in order to prevent Israel from committing "this racist and terrorist act." It will also request an urgent Security Council session.
The strong reaction from the PLO followed reports that an extremist settler organization on Tuesday handed eviction notices to 10 Jerusalem families in Sheikh Jarrah, a Palestinian neighborhood in East Jerusalem.
Hussein Kiswani, a Palestinian Authority official in Jerusalem, told the official PA news agency WAFA that settlers broke into a house and attempted to force residents out and photographed other homes.
Residents are consulting with attorneys before taking any steps, Kiswani added.

Israel destroys buildings in Gaza
(2:13) Israel steps up demolitions in Gaza - Press TV News
Israeli tanks and bulldozers have destroyed factory buildings and storage facilities in an industrial zone in the Gaza Strip, a report says.
The industrial zone -- near the Karni crossing in eastern Gaza -- which was attacked on Thursday, has not been operational since 2007, a Press TV correspondent reported.
Palestinians said that the buildings were warehouses holding goods that had been transferred to Gaza via the nearby Karni crossing which had been shut down by the Israelis earlier this year.
The Karni crossing which was one of the two commercial crossings, between Israel and the Gaza Strip, was closed permanently in March leaving Kerem Shalom crossing as the only commercial crossing operating in Gaza.
The destroyed buildings contained a variety of useful equipment, and many types of goods which have now been damaged.
The Karni Industrial Zone came to a standstill when Israel heavily restricted the passageways to and from Gaza as part of its blockade of the territory.
Many here say that by destroying factories and storage facilities on the border with Gaza, Israel aims to expand the so-called buffer zone to further tighten the siege on Gaza.

IOF troops enter southern Gaza, bulldoze land
RAFAH, (PIC)-- Israeli occupation forces (IOF) advanced tens of meters into eastern Rafah in the southern area of Gaza Strip on Saturday morning, local sources reported.
The sources told the PIC reporter that seven army vehicles including a bulldozer advanced into eastern Rafah and leveled land amidst intermittent firing.
The IOF troops routinely enter eastern Gaza border areas and bulldoze land and destroy property.

Israel's occupation of Palestinian territories and its aggressions against the Palestinians are aimed at plundering their natural wealth, says a Middle East expert.
People don't understand that this conflict is also to do with natural resources because in the offshore Gaza area is vast reserves of natural gas, Peter Eyre, a Middle East consultant in London, told Press TV on Thursday.
... Given the opportunity, this small nucleus of two separate entities [Gaza Strip and the West Bank], if they come together, has got enough wealth to become what I call the mini-Dubai of the eastern Mediterranean --that is perfectly possible, Eyre said.
Palestinian people have got tremendous wealth at their fingertips, he added.
Eyre also expressed pleasure over a pact made recently between Palestinian factions to form a transitional unity government and hold future elections.
I'm quite happy with the way things have gone on; for the first time we have two factions that have come together and that's a wonderful achievement, the Middle East consultant said.
He also lauded the fact that the agreement was achieved without external interference.
It's all been organized within the Arab states...They don't the West to resolve this issue, Eyre said.
Eyre further pointed out that the West has always sided with Israel and that has been a longstanding obstacle on the way to achieve peace in the Middle East.
Delegations representing Hamas and Fatah came to an understanding on Wednesday in the Egyptian capital of Cairo, where they resumed unity talks.
Hamas and Fatah have been at odds since the former won the Palestinian parliamentary elections in January 2006.
Fatah set up headquarters in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, with Hamas arguing that the faction works in cahoots with Tel Aviv.

(2:39) Egypt questions ex-ministers on Israel gas deal - Press TV News
Two former Egyptian ministers are to face trial for selling natural gas to Israel at a low price.
Sameh Fahmi and Mahmud Latif along with some others, are accused of costing the North African nation over 700 million dollars in losses because of exporting gas to Israel at a price lower than international rates, jeopardizing their own nation's interests.
Abdullah al-Ashel is the former deputy to the foreign minister of Egypt and blames the old regime for creating a culture of corruption.
Palestinian residents of Cairo welcome Egypt's new approach to handling business deals with Israel.
Roqayah is a member of the Al-Quds Club at the American University of Cairo and sees hope for Palestine as post-Hosni Mubarak.
While Egypt's interim government has moved to reassess certain deals with Israel, some seem to have taken matters into their own hands.
The pipeline in the Sinai which has supplied 40 percent of Israel's energy needs was blown up, halting deliveries.
Cairo University students were also loud and clear about the country's dealings with Israel as they staged an angry protest outside the Israeli embassy.
In post-revolution Egypt, many see some real discretion to support neighboring Palestine.
Many protesters have vowed to continue their fight until the Egyptian authorities decide to sever all ties with Israel. They are planning mass demonstrations in the coming weeks to mark the Palestinian Naqba, or Catastrophe of 1948.
